Lol. As a non-American, I appreciate your very accurate and quite humorous post.
As much as I support the people of America, this isn't my problem to solve. If you come to me with literally anything I can do from here to help you, I'll do it.
But don't lump me in with you by saying "everyone".
I remember months ago people were like “I guess you guys gotta fight us and kick our asses” and I’m lol no buddy, fix your own problems.
Yeah, this whole unfortunate trend of authoritarian bullshit rearing its head is gratefully only relevant if you're one of the unlucky few in the U.S., China, India, Canada, the U.K., Australia, Germany, Italy, Greece, Ukraine, Russia, Sudan, Syria, Afghanistan, Belarus, the UAE, and like one or two others, admittedly. Sucks to be those guys.
China, Russia, Syria, Belarus aren't seeing any increased authoritarianism. It is the same for decades
Agree to disagree.
Rah. Dude's been gassed before. Nice to see Marines on the right side of things.
I mean damn I would be so fucking mad if I put my life on the line to protect freedom and a possibility for people in this country to pursue the american dream and now gestures to the dumpsterfire that is the US.
I am already mad, I am mad for these vets just thinking about it, I have talked to so many vets that really would have given their life to an idea, to a social contract and pact to make things better for everybody, no matter their politics the conviction was as real as anything, I can't imagine how mad I would be if I had actually served myself and put my ass on the line as one of those people.... so I try to remind myself of that periodically to stoke my engine.
How can you tell? Just curious as a Marine veteran. We used to do jumping jacks and pushups in the gas room until the last man couldn't take it anymore. Those were the days!
Edit: Oops nm, I found the source on this guy.
Yeah, my man here was just reliving the old days. Definitely find myself missing it here and there, but maybe just the clowns and not the circus.
Help me out, because I'm still trying to figure out how it's known he's a Marine.
Nothing in the image itself, but someone else posted this link: https://www.chicagotribune.com/2025/09/19/tear-gas-protesters-broadview-ice/
Curtis Evans, of Evanston, carries a U.S. flag through gas deployed by federal officers as they clear protesters from the entrance of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Broadview on Sept. 19, 2025. Evans said he was a Marine during President Ronald Reagan’s term. (Stacey Wescott/Chicago Tribune)
I think it's just an assumption based on the fact that he seems mostly unphased by the tear gas.
Suggestions?
Organize locally, be vocal, and become involved groups that support your community.
And that is going to stop a tyrannical fascist dictator that is above all law how exactly?
We outnumber them and America should feel like it. No, individual acts of defiance won't do it, but whatever does will work better in a defiant country than a cowering one.
This shit is going to collapse under its own weight if nothing else. I'd kinda like the good guys to have an impact on whatever comes next.
"Every ICE agent will be held to account"
I agree. Everyone on this planet should be "doing something".
I personally enjoy breathing, and leaving passive-aggressive replies to people who act like 'lemmy.world' means 'lemmy.usa'.
Germany, Israel, Brazil, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Tibet, Russia, Hungary, Poland, Philippines…need we go on?
