Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

Maybe he thinks if he tells the police they aren't racist, they will do this?

Objectively cool thing to say but he would never actually do this because they would definitely kill him for it, assuming the cops even followed this order to begin with, which they absolutely would not

[–] AOCapitulator@hexbear.net 24 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

this little cuck thinks I'll think he's cool for saying this and forget that he just said he's so sowwy for saying the NYPD is racist, fuck yourself mamdani

[–] ClimateStalin@hexbear.net 18 points 1 week ago (5 children)

Surely Netanyahu will just not go to NYC right?

[–] spectre@hexbear.net 18 points 1 week ago

I think he surely will go and trump will offer him protection from federal officers.

[–] purpleworm@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago

I think Bibi knows the federal government is so totally dominated by Zionism that they will rapidly free him even imagining he was apprehended, allowing him to look like a martyr without anything bad actually happening to them. Or the NYPD refuses and he makes Mamdani look even more pathetic than in the previous scenario. He's totally making a trip if Mamdani wins.

UN headquarters is there so he probably will anyway

[–] ClimateStalin@hexbear.net 1 points 1 week ago

UN keeps having to have shit other places because the US refuses to give visas to Palestinian diplomats. They’ll just relocate rather than worry about it

[–] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 7 points 1 week ago

He can't resist going to the UN and being a racist warmonger. It's his favorite past time.

where else would you campaign for office in Israel?

[–] DrMartinu@lemmy.dbzer0.com 44 points 1 week ago (1 children)

NYPD has 'counterterrorism officers' stationed across the globe. Looks like one is supposed to be in Tel Aviv. I wonder how his day is going

Sending disgraced officers to pisrael on the doomed mission to single-handedly arrest bibi, and waiting for them to be merced

[–] AOCapitulator@hexbear.net 30 points 1 week ago

~~defund~~ depopulate the police

[–] bdonvr@thelemmy.club 11 points 1 week ago

I'd watch that as a short TV series

[–] Leegh@hexbear.net 34 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)
  1. The NYPD will not comply and will actively undermine his entire stint in office.

  2. Even if they were to comply, the feds will find a way to release him.

  3. The feds will 100% try to off him for doing it.

And this is all assuming Mamdani is sincere here and is not just doing a populist gesture that he will immediately backtrack once in power.

I don’t typically give this milquetoast socdem a lot of credit, but in terms of things he could say to rile up voters with absolutely zero intent to follow through, I have to admit this is a good one.

[–] redchert@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 week ago

This is damage control. He already sold out.

[–] la_tasalana_intissari_mata@hexbear.net 31 points 1 week ago (1 children)

if the nypc can't be stopped from running over protestors what makes him think they'll follow his order to arrest netenyahu? still even if they arrest will do nothing, he's just a guy, the genocide has been happening for more than 80 years

[–] VILenin@hexbear.net 26 points 1 week ago (1 children)

If you promise something you know you will be prevented from doing, you can get credit for trying to do it without the ramifications of actually doing it.

[–] LeninWeave@hexbear.net 16 points 1 week ago

Very clearly just trying to cover his ass after apologizing to the NYPD.

[–] Frogmanfromlake@hexbear.net 23 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Lmao I’m sorry but this is clearly just to win favors with his base because this is not going to happen if he doesn’t reform the NYPD.

[–] freagle@lemmygrad.ml 19 points 1 week ago

It's unreformable, fundamentally. The minute any structural change is even proposed, the national guard will move in.

[–] MF_COOM@hexbear.net 17 points 1 week ago

Cool bud you ready to discipline those thugs when they refuse

[–] grandepequeno@hexbear.net 16 points 1 week ago

This only means anything if he 100% vocally commits to arresting him or any indicted israeli who comes to NYC for UN shit

[–] CyborgMarx@hexbear.net 12 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Someone on his staff must've had a TALK with him about the apology tour he was pulling

Let's see if it's actaully corrected

[–] purpleworm@hexbear.net 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He's said for some time that he'd do this

[–] Euergetes@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago

yes but re-iterating it after the cop apology that nobody liked suggests a correction, or a distraction

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 11 points 1 week ago (2 children)

didn't he say that months ago?

[–] MolotovHalfEmpty@hexbear.net 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah, he's just restating it now to try and slap a bandaid on the cracks in the dam of his persona/campaign he's spent the last week or two making with a pickaxe.

[–] LeninWeave@hexbear.net 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Never speak to Obama, they gave him that MKULTRA technology.

He was flipping a coin like Two Face today to decide what to apologize for and "NYPD is racist" came up on the opposite face from "will arrest Netanyahu".

[–] mudpuppy@hexbear.net 10 points 1 week ago

it looks like both articles (nypd apology, arrest netanyahu) say it was on thursday in an nyt interview, im pretty sure he said both of these in the same interview without talking to anyone or judging reactions in between

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 6 points 1 week ago

Bold strategy to try and play every single side at once, let's see how it goes.

[–] herseycokguzelolacak@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Mamdani is suprisingly good. I did not expect it from politics in 2025.

[–] redchert@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 1 week ago

He sure is trying.
