Oh my God

Is this what I would be hearing if I actually watched this loser? 'People live until 83-85 and are retiring at 65 and this is a bad thing'? People should literally just work until they drop dead?

Yeah let's just plug them into the matrix and make them power our cities but without the dream world, cause making that costs money.

You'd rob us of our final twenty years of freedom? What is going on? What is wrong with people like this? At 65 my body would be barely a shadow between life and death; I shouldn't have peace in my final twenty years?

Oh easy enough for him to say, he's a millionaire; he can retire NOW if he wanted to. Can you believe most boomers vote for the same people he votes for?

Some people are. Charlie Kirk was very efficient he worked right up until he died. I hope Ben Shapiro lives such an efficient life too!

Was he though, was doing what he loved detecting blame towards minorities

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 34 points 2 days ago (1 children)

IIRC Ben Shapiro has never worked a day in his life, of course he'd say this.

what do you mean, I work very hard to talk so quickly I just talk over anyone. And very hard when trying to be a Hollywood writer then book writer

“You’re leaving productivity on the table!”

Aren’t there like, an entire generation of 20-somethings just itching to get their lives started and porky is having cold feet over hiring them? Just hire them.

Also, producing what and for who? It's not like anyone has time to enjoy what I'm producing other than like a small group of really rich fuckers who don't have to work.

It's mindless. Just brainlessly doing repetitive tasks until your body gives out. No brighter future vision of anything outside of being fodder for corrupt kings. We might as well be ants as much as humans, except if ants had our resources they'd probably take care of each other better.

i'm realizing with compound eyes there's no such thing as "side-eye" you'd just divert your focus to the periphery or maybe tilt your head

side-eye-1

Ants even let each other take hundreds of power naps a day

Honestly I WOULD be genuinely surprised he has any fans, considering all they have to do is ask themselves how his advice would work out for them, but I'm 90% sure they all think they'll be successful by then and it won't be them suffering; as for everyone else, including people on their own side, if they fail or become their stepping stone then that's on them.

crazy to say this kind of thing as a highly public figure after the 10th

Working-class people have a shorter life expectancy, about 75 years. That's only 10 years after retirement, though many working-class people end up having to work long past 65. It's very common to hear people in factory/warehouse jobs having the sentiment that "I'll be working till I keel over dead".

This is something you don't realize if you live in a professional class bubble, like I mostly did until college, and like Bennyboy still does.

expert-shapiro: "You disgusting have-nots have too much! We're going to abolish retirement, even further fuck the housing market, and have the few of you we actually employ all work for free on a dying planet!"

frothingfash

expert-shapiro: "You will all own nothing and be happy!"

frothingfash

expert-shapiro: "We'll give you special treatment if you're a cisgender, heterosexual, christian white man! Which isn't even a full 30% of you!"

amerikkka-clap amerikkka-clap: "His ideas are PERFECT! Please take my retirement porky!"

Guy I worked with a few years back was in his 50s and the cartilage in his knees was gone and he was waiting for the shop's busy season to be over before he'd be able to take time off for transplant surgery.

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 2 points 2 days ago

Ow; I've heard of how awfully painful that is.

[–] Horse@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

my parents barely hit their 60s before they shuffled off this mortal coil, i think 75 is maybe a bit generous

https://www.help.senate.gov/dem/newsroom/press/new-report-working-class-americans-can-expect-to-die-at-least-7-years-earlier-than-the-wealthy

I think some of this data is life expectancy at age 40, so the effect from birth is going to be a bit more pronounced. Still, with the poorest 80% being working class, the average is going to be somewhere in the lower 70s.

The only chance i have at not working until i keel over dead is because my gf makes more money than me and made us buy a house. So maybe it gets paid off someday and I won't have a mortgage to worry about

I'm probably dying before that because no healthcare

Literally the other day i was thinking like "how the fuck are you even supposed to go to a doctor after a decade without, do you just ramble about the long list of shit that's started going wrong with your body?"

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 1 points 2 days ago

It's always tragic when you have people glamorizing old people still being forced to work as being dedicated; like no, they're still working cause they have to; it's not glamorous.

[–] BountifulEggnog@hexbear.net 24 points 2 days ago

I'm not going to live until 65 because of climate change

[–] Rojo27@hexbear.net 26 points 2 days ago

I personally wouldn't want to work until I die like Ben's good friend Charlie did.

[–] miz@hexbear.net 22 points 2 days ago

Ben Shapiro: "People aren't working until the day they die, they're retiring with like two decades on the clock"

At least Charlie Kirk isn't.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 5 points 2 days ago

Based on my family history I almost certainly won't live to 65
