Ask Lemmy
A Fediverse community for open-ended, thought provoking questions
Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, and toxicity are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either !asklemmyafterdark@lemmy.world or !asklemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com.
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email info@lemmy.world. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
6) No US Politics.
Please don't post about current US Politics. If you need to do this, try !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world or !askusa@discuss.online
Reminder: The terms of service apply here too.

sounds like a blog. you could try WordPress and use their Reader section to follow other Wordpress blogs. there's also writefreely and write.as
WordPress even has ActivityPub support now via a plugin. That way it can be followed on Mastodon. You can also post to Lemmy communities by mentioning it in the post. Comments in the fediverse get added as comments to the blog.
soooo cooool
seriously, though, good to have the proof of concept, I was hoping to rewrite my own blog's code to do something similar
I like write freely. Paper.wf has been down for a couple of weeks, but I like how clean it is and how much it just feels like a blank piece of paper. It feels like I don't have to build a brand — I feel like it actively discourages that.
But it being down is discouraging. I can't even get to the stuff I've written to migrate it elsewhere. If there is a host that is reliable, I'd give it another shot, but last time I looked most of them not open registration for free tiers.
Might take a look at write.as.
Xanga, re-invented
That's the original meaning of a blog. I guess platforms like Tumblr and Wordpress would qualify and can still be used for that. But the way they're actually used by most users has shifted quite a bit from their original intention. On the fediverse, something like friendica or even mastodon could work.
- You can write your journal on Standard Notes and publish it on their Listed Blog.
- Check out Bear Blog (no trackers, no javascript)
- If you’re happy here at Lemmy and your instance allows you to create a community, you can lock that down and turn it into a blog.
Good luck!
EDIT You can always link your blog to the social media you already have.
yes , check out writefreely and see reader section of that instance to read blogs made by people of that instance
