(btw this doesn't apply to games where the movement is BUILT INTO THE GAME, isn't overpowered, and actually takes skill like Quake or Titanfall 2)

I’ve actually wondered if the RTS genre could come back in some casual manner if they do something to “rate limit” your orders so that APM doesn’t become the key metric.

Something like judging you as a commander by how well you can delegate. Like, telling infantry to “advance using cover” - rather than “move here. Then move here. Then move here-No, there’s bad guys, go back to base”

I honestly think I enjoy tactical shooters in part because they limit how much you can sprint and jump around in combat, keeping it to core positioning.

That new Titanfall2 wall jump tech a while ago was pretty dope

I love Titanfall 2 only because the movement there is actually kinda cool and makes sense (you need a way to avoid titans). But I do not want anything like that in CoD, Battlefield, or any other shooter of that type. And this is coming from someone who liked CoD BO3 and Infinite Warfare, but both of those had slower movement that wasn't as much of a crutch back then.

Playing BO6 just feels like I'm overstimulating myself for 1 hour before I turn it off.

I love battlefield and I love games like quake, tribes, splitgate, warsow, and UT. I do not want to mix them together.

No no, we've tested this in focus groups, and we are quite sure that what you want is a kind of generalized, averaged slop that vaguely resembles a bunch of other distinct things you like, but isn't any of them.

Activision HR:

Just kidding actually, we are the ones who run the focus groups, thank you for engaging in our 3 month unpaid internship and doing all the work for us, but we have decided to not move forward with your employment in a paid role at this time.

Factorio. Noting gives as big of a hit then getting a full belt of red circuits in each playthrough.

Quake's "movement that takes skill" is actually a bug players have been exploiting for decades. Strafe-Jumping, Overbounce, Wall-Running, etc. are all exploits. They are entirely unintended. This also applies to game engines that derive from Quake source, such as GoldSource and Source games.

Oh I see. Statement retracted then!

But can you actually shoot people in your shooting game?
