(btw this doesn't apply to games where the movement is BUILT INTO THE GAME, isn't overpowered, and actually takes skill like Quake or Titanfall 2)

I’ve actually wondered if the RTS genre could come back in some casual manner if they do something to “rate limit” your orders so that APM doesn’t become the key metric.

Something like judging you as a commander by how well you can delegate. Like, telling infantry to “advance using cover” - rather than “move here. Then move here. Then move here-No, there’s bad guys, go back to base”

I honestly think I enjoy tactical shooters in part because they limit how much you can sprint and jump around in combat, keeping it to core positioning.
