You used to be able to prove it too via kbin. It was very interesting having a supposedly cordial convo just to see that same person crawl your comment history downvoting everything.

Gog also sells you a revokable license. From the legal side they're identical, from a practical side they save you one step.

I mean at that point you can just make backups of your steam games too. A lot work straight from the exe and for the rest there are steam simulators.
