Working class implies the vast majority of people in the country... CHAV is a specific set of male violent thugs, so whilst it is a slur... it's wrong to imply it describes ALL working class people, when the majority of them aren't scummy violent thugs.

In gay porn these are known as scallys or chavs. I don't think there is a term for them that isn't a classist slur.
