Agreed. A single issue party tackling electoral reform. Probably something that Reform, the Lib Dems, the SNP, Greens & Plaid could band together and support. I would have zero faith in Reform actually going through with it though if they did gain a majority.
Paul Webb, Reform UK's communities portfolio holder who oversees libraries, said the move came after a "concerned member of the public" contacted him.
Good money says the concerned member of the public was Paul himself.
It’s just another tax
Nobody is forcing people to drive over the speed limit. It's a fine, not a tax.
The population wants and needs more housing, that's been a fact for quite some time now. Adding way more supply to the market should help house prices, albeit a small amount. We're already seeing the average price start to drop in real terms.
I'd be interested to see where those 600,000 houses are and what condition they're in and if they're suitable for modern families.
I'm not answering your question at all am I lmao
Have you considered a career in politics?
You might have mis-read my comment, what are their prices like, relative to ours?
old and “full of character” (read: uneven floors, crumbling paper-thin walls) due to lack of regulation.
Basically a bit like our old terrace houses that are full of damp and way too small for modern life.
I'm not a mod of the feddit.uk equivalent so it's not up to me, but I'd be cautious about doing so. I have lemmy.ml blocked so I can't see their posts or comments, but I'm a bit wary about their users, it would be like redirecting a unitedkingdom community from hexbear or grad.
Yeah we can reach out to the mods there and see if they'd want to redirect to us.
What are house prices in France like?
I'd have to guess it's to disincentives illegal immigrants coming into the country.
I get the optics of it to be honest. We're constantly being told there's not enough money for essential services, there's housing shortages and so on, but then people can come here and get housed, receive money etc. It's probably also a tough pill to swallow when they're coming from safe countries.
This is absolutely what's driving the popularity of Reform, and will continue to do so.
That was in Belgium I think.
