I would troll people with this if I ran a shop.

"Ask about our hot guy discount"

And when someone actually asks about it, (the guy in the comic doesn't ask, he just says that he has heard that they have one, which is a statement, not a question).... I would make sure that everyone is trained to say "we don't have one".

I said ask about it, not that one exists.

[–] pulsey@feddit.org 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I would just give it to anybody who asks on a hot day.

[–] MystikIncarnate@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago

That's a nice twist.

Does that shirt say ‘Silt Life’?

I love silt as much as the next flood plain ya know but that’s kind of irrelevant to the comic

[–] 3abas@lemmy.world 5 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Saltlife, it's a surfer clothing brand.

In Hungarian, "hot" (meleg) means gay

Like, it's the word for a gay person

Just sayin'

I used to live in Atlanta and when I first got there I was perusing the roommates ads and I noticed that a lot of the ads used the word "liberal". I called one and chatted with the guy and it seemed like a good fit. He finally said "so ... are you liberal?" and I said "yeah, I'm pretty liberal -- I hate Reagan." He laughed and explained to me that "liberal" meant gay. I said "oh, I'm not gay" and then asked if it was OK if I still lived there because I needed a place.

You have the hottest head of state, hotter than that of Russia

Hungary

Gays are so hot right now

In American, Hungry means you want to eat something

[–] WhyJiffie@sh.itjust.works 4 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

no, in American it means you want to eat mcdonalds

[–] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 4 points 1 day ago

And the comic artist is meleg too. What a coincidence.

[–] Snailpope@lemmy.world 127 points 2 days ago (2 children)

In my opinion, the number one reason that guy is objectively and unequivocally not hot is the fact he is not wearing a seat belt.

I figured the artist just left out that detail so readers could read his shirt

[–] Katana314@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Now, bait both sides of the gender war by making a gender-flipped version of the comic!

[–] AwesomeLowlander@sh.itjust.works 2 points 14 hours ago

It would actually be really interesting to have a comic artist do this routinely for their comics. Would definitely make a lot of people consider their assumptions

[–] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 20 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Fool. She's a goth chick, of course she is gonna get a discount.

[–] BigBananaDealer@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

[–] alsimoneau@lemmy.ca 44 points 1 day ago (4 children)

He didn't order a hot guy though, so why would he get a discount?

I can't help but associate a W which should be an M with Wario.

McWario's

I live in Kansas City. The closest ocean is 750 miles away. I want to punch every single driver I see with salt life on their car...

[–] HeyJoe@lemmy.world 54 points 2 days ago (6 children)

For the longest time I thought it said slut life. I laughed very hard when I found out the truth. I still call it that when I see one. And yeah, I hate them as well.

They really want you to know that they went to the beach once, and they might do it again.

Apparently he got the discount, since the price would be more after tax.

[–] pulsey@feddit.org 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

you and your weird "you will actually pay more than your see on the sign." Our prices just include taxes, so you know exactly how much you will end up paying.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I know, it's very annoying. Always got culture shock when I came back to the States and had to pay more than the listed price.

The reasoning is because every county can have different taxes, so it varies a lot from place to place, but I think that's a lame excuse. The place it's being sold knows exactly how much the tax will be, so they could post the correct amount!

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

That never made sense to me, either. You can calculate how much it'll be after tax automatically. I guess making the customer feel like they're paying less is more important than being upfront about prices.

[–] ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (8 children)

In ohio there's no tax on food so that's also a possibility here

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 1 points 17 hours ago

Does anywhere in America have sales tax on drive throughs?

Also ohio does have sales tax on dine in, at least it did a few months ago and the previous two decades

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago

Same in CA, but fast food is considered a service so it's taxed.

Only if you aren't going to eat in the restaurant. If you eat in you have to pay sales tax

[–] kaklerbitmap@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

No sales tax in Oregon
