Apparently he got the discount, since the price would be more after tax.

you and your weird "you will actually pay more than your see on the sign." Our prices just include taxes, so you know exactly how much you will end up paying.

I know, it's very annoying. Always got culture shock when I came back to the States and had to pay more than the listed price.

The reasoning is because every county can have different taxes, so it varies a lot from place to place, but I think that's a lame excuse. The place it's being sold knows exactly how much the tax will be, so they could post the correct amount!

That never made sense to me, either. You can calculate how much it'll be after tax automatically. I guess making the customer feel like they're paying less is more important than being upfront about prices.

In ohio there's no tax on food so that's also a possibility here

Only if you aren't going to eat in the restaurant. If you eat in you have to pay sales tax

Does anywhere in America have sales tax on drive throughs?

Also ohio does have sales tax on dine in, at least it did a few months ago and the previous two decades

Same in CA, but fast food is considered a service so it's taxed.

No sales tax in Oregon

salt life shirt in ohio is wild

/smalltext i assume they exist/

[–] mnemonicmonkeys@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I live in Ohio. They absolutely exist.

That being said, a lot of people in western Ohio go to Myrtle Beach every year, enough that I don't really question it

Yeah i see less of them out west than I did in Ohio. Fucking myrtle beachers…

I grew up in NE Ohio and everybody there went to Daytona for spring break. I don't know where they go now, but fucking nobody goes to Daytona for spring break any more.
