Once upon a time I used to think that everyone could live together as equals, that we all had no issues with one another and what differences we had weren't existential in the slightest (I'm assuming existential here meaning a risk to our continued existence). I naively thought that perhaps man was good deep down, but honestly, then I took a look at my youtube recommended videos and realized I'm actually far right.

Youtube is recommending me Ben Shapiro, zionist Israeli youtubers, anti-woke content, Count Dankula, Trump supporters, etc.

Apparently I'm a far right scumbag cause otherwise why else would youtube recommend me these videos?

Yup, guess I'm going to have to hate the wokes, hate having a functioning country, hate the human race except white people (unless they're the wokes), hate women, hate PoC; I'll have to cry about a kids movie I was never going to watch casting a black person in a traditionally white role (in, again, a movie I was never going to watch), claim everything I hate is Marxism including capitalism, etc.

I never even knew I was far right, but then why else would youtube be recommending me these videos when I watch 90% Hasan, 5% Rathbone, 5% other left wing/left leaning content creators?

Youtube recommends those videos to literally everyone, in order to push people towards the far right. Anytime you watch anything labelled "political" on youtube, especially if it is considered "left wing" (by US standards) then youtube will try to "correct" this by "fixing" your feed so you can see "both sides." It's just a total and complete coincidence though and youtube totally doesn't do it on purpose.

My bf was telling me the other day that YouTube thinks he hates Jews. I was like, nah, they show that stuff to everyone. That's why I use Freetube + tor if I want to watch a video, though.

don't' hate-watch, don't argue in comments. do ~~delete your account and stop using youtube~~ click on "not interested" and "don't recommend channel". i get recommended maker shit because i watched battlebots stuff when the revival was on tv, drumeo, and black radical adjacent stuff because FD did a good job playing the algorithm and promoting people.

Thanks; I think the 'not interested' and 'don't recommend channel' buttons may be on the youtube app, cause I recall reading about them but not seeing them when visiting youtube on firefox. As for hate-watching, I always make sure to open any videos I'm curious about in private window, and if I accidentally open a video whose channel I don't want recommendations from I immediately delete their video from my watch history. I recall something hbomberguy once said that makes me think that I may be getting these recommendations because the people I watch are themselves watching right wing content (for the purpose of ridiculing or debunking them); if I recall correctly, he said that part of the algorithm apparently sees what your favorite content creators are themselves watching and then assume you'd want to watch it too. Either that or youtube is just actively promoting right wing content.

I don't even sign in anymore. I search something and click on something that may or not be related and go from there. Or watch what shows up inside posts here that interest me.
