"Male" Sorry? They are Hermaphrodites. Not Male or Female.

[–] Nima@leminal.space 13 points 2 days ago (3 children)

that was what wigged you out? not the genital jousting to achieve sexual domination over another?

not the phallic whacking. that part is fine. that's just normal tuesdays.

Meanwhile I'm over here like

Genital jousting: no probs, carry on

Their coloring: wtf that can't be natural, gotta be digitally enhanced, no way these oil slick looking mfers actually that rainbow irl

[–] M137@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

But that is a thing though, while them being male isn't. They're pointing out a factual error, not saying "This detail made me go yuck most".

How have you managed to not understand this?

"How have you managed to not understand this?"

I am sorry that you are taking this seriously. i meant it to be a light joke. i wanted to write the phrase 'genital jousting'.

i know they're not males. most people who look them up using a search engine know that as well. just trying to have fun.

Yeah, this isn't news to me that this is a thing. Saw articles on this ~ 20 years ago. Complete with grainy images of the tiny flatworms "fencing".

Was weird then. Got used to the idea since. Worse to me is some of parasites like toxoplasma gondii that just get to rewrite what smells you like so that they can get back into a cat.

Gotta shove the gender normativity in there somehow

[–] crumbguzzler5000@feddit.org 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I thought we were all doing this? My partner told me everyone does this

[–] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 13 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I feel the need to inform you that not all humans have penises.

[–] porksnort@slrpnk.net 5 points 2 days ago

True, but such a shame.

[–] kibiz0r@midwest.social 4 points 2 days ago

But they could

[–] CoolThingAboutMe@beehaw.org 6 points 2 days ago

Is that what a flatworm looks like?

I would not describe that as flat. It looks like some kind of dragon imo.

[–] Dudewitbow@lemmy.zip 24 points 2 days ago

ahh so genital jousting is derived from nature

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 9 points 2 days ago

tapeworms just "do themselves" to make fertilized eggs.

I wish this upon all self proclaimed alpha males

[–] Blubber28@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

"See babe I told you phallus fencing is a very natural thing!"

[–] CubitOom@infosec.pub 6 points 2 days ago

Reminds me of being in high school again and "jousting"
