So I'm hesitant to recommend stuff on Epic as their history with Tencent leaves something to be desired, but they're offering Road Redemption (a modernized PC successor) for free this week if anyone else wants to jump on the deal.

Obligatory fuck epic but I have this game on steam and it is pretty funny for a few hours. It didn't keep my attention for as long as road rash did back in the day but definitely worth a play if you liked those old games!

I think you missed. You're replying to the post about Road Rash saying the game didn't hold your attention as long as Road Rash.

You probably meant to reply to a comment, haha

They are responding to the body of the post, not the title. There is text as well.

Lol, you're right! My bad

[–] NastyNative@mander.xyz 16 points 1 month ago

The music alone was worth the play! I played this on sega genesis all day long!

[–] VerilyFemme@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 1 month ago

Yeah, Road Redemption is great. I wish it had more varied environments, though. I think I just miss Genesis graphix :P

Smacking other racers in the face with a metal chain never got old. I was terrible at the actual racing but at least nobody could overtake me!

Peak Road Rash was always timing your kick just right so that they crashed into oncoming traffic

Never played this game, but the image reminds me of Full Throttle.

I remember! My sister and I played a ton on Genesis. I should get emulation set up on my Steam Deck so I can play the originals again haha.

we played the series on genesis at my cousins all the time so this has nostalgia up the orifices for me

Oh, it's Road Redemption being given away. I bought this on steam a few years ago. Pretty good game, but never quite managed to capture the magic of Road Rash. Maybe it's just nostalgia talking though.

Road Rash was great, but I feel the real spiritual successor was Burnout 3: Takedown.

[–] Rekorse@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Now make the game run better on emulators :(

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I still can't believe they remastered the wrong one.

[–] Rekorse@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago

For a second I wasnt sure which one you meant, and then I realized I think I own it, burnout paradise right? I do like that game but I'm not sure it needed a remaster yet.

I played it on my Amiga. Good times.

[–] LoreSoong@startrek.website 6 points 1 month ago

Road Redemtpion was supposed to be the "spiritual successor" to Road Rash. I don't remember it being very good, but it might scratch the itch

Played the original a few weeks ago, it's a little janky, but still fun.

[–] shani66@ani.social 4 points 1 month ago

Man i loved that chain

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I remember the chain being the best weapon.

[–] burt@programming.dev 4 points 1 month ago

I remember this being a Sega channel staple for me and my brother.

[–] joelfromaus@aussie.zone 4 points 1 month ago

I can’t remember which game in the Road Rash series had it but the song Speed Home California is a certified banger.

[–] kindenough@kbin.earth 3 points 1 month ago

Yes I do. Had Road Rash on the Amiga...3 decades ago.

[–] Harbinger01173430@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Jail break was the best

[–] orca@orcas.enjoying.yachts 2 points 1 month ago

I’ve beat both the campaign and campaign+ in Road Redemption, and I’ve unlocked the entire upgrade tree. It’s one of my most addictive games. I’m now playing through it on campaign++ lmao.

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Hell Yeah! First game I bought for the PS1. I remember unlocking new bikes and songs based on how good I got at the game. Man I definitely love to get a copy of this game. I miss this game
