The Germans tried doing the same thing after WWII when the whole country was complicit in the Holocaust. There were camps everywhere. The number of SS wasn't high enough for them to round up every undesirable on their own, it required the participation of civilians and local law enforcement. They were more than happy to kill their neighbors because it meant they got to take their stuff for themselves.
The SD was the primary group rounding up victims, comprised primarily of cops.

Liberals will throw an Elon salute and turn in their neighbors in a heart beat, if it keeps them from getting the knock on the door from the brownshirts. They'll turn the gas valves if you ask them politely.
One thing I think about a lot is the idea that if stuff like phones, selfies and social media existed back during WW2, we'd see literally all the exact same excuses people give for Israel today to the Nazis. We'd have this same shit, with people taking selfies outside of the death camps (like Israeli soldiers do in Palestine, or these POS above). It would be identical to the social media of today.
We have a bunch of photos of Axis troops committing war crimes they took of themselves. Ranging from burying people in mass graves, posing with dead bodies, beheading contests, standing in front of prison camps, and literally killing infants.
You'd think people would figure out this never makes them look good, but the US did similar shit in Vietnam and Isreal is doing it today. You're 100% right the Axis would have posted themselves all over social media with comments from Americans/British/etc. cheering them on, saying how those people deserved it.

Why can't they take selfies like normal people. Like me, a grown ass man nearing 50 who last took a selfie at the Goonies house in Astoria.
like a dozen years ago, I was in the area after a work conference doing a little self-guided trip along those beach communities and stopped in Astoria to eat and see the goonie house.
when I walked up there I was surprised to see a donation box and massive cross-displayed flags for the US and Israel with tons of warning signs about how "you're on camera". like they were so big and central to the view of the house, you couldn't take a picture of it without having them at least partially in frame.
it made the experience much more memorable and surreal.
I guess like 5 years ago they sold the house. The new owner seems pretty chill, and is actually a Goonie fan. The only flag I saw was "Goonies Never Say Die!" He welcomes fans to take pictures, just don't park in the driveway.
that's cool! I didn't know what to expect and it was a bit of a spontaneous thing. I parked the rental like half a mile away and enjoyed a little walk through the neighborhood, casually watching some container ships meander along the Columbia.
it was a jarring display, making it to the top and turning to the house to see such an aggressive political display next to this ornate "donation" box. very "fuck you, but also gimmie".
