Isn't she relatively disliked even in britain these days?

The shittiest people in the country know she created modern britain. Those people also just so happen to have all the power in the country.

These wokies keep building new gender neutral bathrooms

it makes me feel existential horror that someone spent their one chance at life being Margaret Thatcher.

that person can never come back and make it right again. They had one chance, and "person whose statue gets egged" is who they were.

[–] invalidusernamelol@hexbear.net 30 points 1 week ago

Think about the right side, there are billions of people who got to live lives not being Margaret Thatcher because of her sacrifice

damn that's a based old man. good on him

[–] WrongOnTheInternet@hexbear.net 29 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He is apparently the deputy director of the Attenborough Arts Centre, University of Leicester

seems like a discerning individual on the quality of art. I appreciate his contribution to that particular fixture.

Just throwing it out there that it's perfectly legal for birds to shit on it

I imagine the gammon calling for the arrest is very red and disgusting looking.

I didn't know she was sick

[–] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 26 points 1 week ago

No no she died a long time ago

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 19 points 1 week ago

One of the sickest ever to be in charge.

Imagine being the artist who has to sculpt a Maggie Thatcher statue. Were they enthusiastic? Was it just for the probably huge paycheck (if so, fine by me, get that bag). If they wanna put up statues to remind people of Britain's Reagan, go ahead. Seems like it accomplished more for class consciousness than anything. No conservative is being inspired to do more conservatism cause of the statue. It's already been shown instead to piss people off.

Got some great tunes out her reign at least

[–] VILenin@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago

Thatcher statues are erected as a final resort to prevent anyone in the UKKK from inadvertently experiencing happiness

[–] Carl@hexbear.net 12 points 1 week ago

the artist who has to sculpt a Maggie Thatcher statu

I'm going to assume without looking it up that the artist in this case was some politicians failchild who slapped something together in CAD and gave the job to a team of underpaid Polish migraints.

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

I want to believe they are hanging the statue in the picture

[–] Flyberius@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago

They could have chosen any picture of the statue. I'd like to think the intern who picked it knew what they were doing

She slaaaayed (children pensioners and miners)

[–] Barabas@hexbear.net 17 points 1 week ago

She is relatively disliked, but also beloved by the worst kind of people. It is a bit like the US with southern civil war generals.

[–] ThermonuclearEgg@hexbear.net 15 points 1 week ago

I heard Britain needed a new gender neutral bathroom, so they built one. Seems pretty considerate if you ask me

[–] peppersky@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago

they need to remind you again and again and again that they've won and we've lost

[–] aanes_appreciator@hexbear.net 11 points 1 week ago

Yes she's hated by the working class but there are lots of conservatives and self hating proles who demand ~~effiges~~ glorious statues to try and turn the public on side.

The British Ronald Reagan

[–] WoodScientist@hexbear.net 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Little known fact: an excellent use for statues of Thatcher is to melt them down and turn them into caltrops to place in front of police marches.

[–] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 week ago

I didn't hear no bell

[–] O__O@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago

Why is the statue of Michael Heseltine?
