Throw in a server rack and it’s perfect.

[–] mirisgaiss@lemmy.world 7 points 4 hours ago

hell, I wish I had something more like that and not a house full of shit I don't use most of the time.

To be fair, some women would say that too. There's so much room to build stuff and do projects! I could get so fucking irresponsible!

[–] Zacpod@lemmy.world 4 points 8 hours ago

Not nearly enough screens.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago

I mean I want a nice armoire too. Not for any particular reason besides bragging.

[–] SHR@lemmy.today 3 points 10 hours ago

Ahh yes, someone decided to make a spot in the backrooms his home....nice 🤩🍺🍺🍺👍

This shit is putting men in a box and " hu duh, men basic, like dog"

[–] Waldelfe@feddit.org 1 points 1 hour ago

And tomorrow they'll post a picture of a 10,000$ gaming setup with LEDs and shit and claim that women can't possibly understand spending a ton of money on furniture and decorations.

Not to mention that this joke has been done to death. For years pictures of empty rooms with a matress have been posted to claim that "this is what men want". (Until next week, when we'll post a picture of a gaming room full of expensive furniture and elaborate decorations and claim that THIS is what men want, actually, for real, I swear.)

What would you add other than a better bed?

[–] BigBananaDealer@lemmy.world 7 points 14 hours ago

mini fridge for beer

Only missing a giant TV.

[–] kieron115@startrek.website 2 points 10 hours ago

See, if you budget properly then you can afford to live on your own and have two beds!

[–] Ilixtze@lemmy.ml 15 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

It is just missing a cinder block nightstand and a dead plastic plant to tie the place together.

[–] blarghly@lemmy.world 6 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Dead plastic plant. For when you want everyone to know you are irresponsible, but without the responsibility

[–] banazir@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 hours ago

I'm a responsible adult, which is why I only grow living plastic plants.

[–] Texas_Hangover@lemmy.radio 25 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

I'm too old to be getting down on the fucking ground like that. Needs a frame of cinder blocks and plywood.

[–] Blemgo@lemmy.world 13 points 18 hours ago (5 children)

You should do that anyways. Bed frames exost for a reason: it helps to stop moisture building up on the underside of the mattress, and thus prevents mold.

[–] Simulation6@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 hour ago

That plus less bugs end up crawling across your face at night.

[–] faythofdragons@slrpnk.net 1 points 3 hours ago

To be fair, air mattresses are like shittier futons and don't get moldy because you're always moving them around.

Source: I used to live with this setup, only in a smaller room.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

I just smother the bottom of my mattress with lotrimin and figure I'm good to go for a few years

[–] RaivoKulli@sopuli.xyz 3 points 17 hours ago

Pfft. Just buy a new mattress and put it in a different place

Nah man, I need an actual bed lol

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 9 points 16 hours ago

I don't need a bed, but an air mattress is a HARD no.

I'd rather sleep on a clear carpet with a blanket.

[–] astutemural@midwest.social 6 points 15 hours ago

Look at all the space for a mini painting station

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 68 points 1 day ago (3 children)

I could be okay, but I also wouldn't purposely get such a large space when I don't plan to fill it with stuff. Just give me space big enough for the matress and desk.

[–] NeatNit@discuss.tchncs.de 56 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I love that you look at this and say "woah, that's way too much, I prefer less"

[–] RogueBanana@lemmy.zip 11 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

If it means lower rent then hell yeah!

I have that same inflatable mattress.

[–] MissJinx@lemmy.world 16 points 22 hours ago

Men? Look at this flooring, look at this lighting project! Amazing place

[–] doingthestuff@lemy.lol 17 points 22 hours ago

Needs two more monitors.

[–] banazir@lemmy.ml 8 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

The minimal furniture and a sense of free space are great for my mental health. A cluttered home to me feels like a cluttered mind. I don't want to live in a cage of excess stuff, much like I don't want to carry unhealthy mental baggage with me, pulling me down. You may see a sparse room, but I see freedom from sensory fatigue. I see freedom.

Low carbon footprint living gets way more hate than it should (and it shouldn't get any).

[–] kameecoding@lemmy.world 18 points 23 hours ago

It's a bit much for me, as I'd want the mattress more elevated, but let me tell you, I am 99% sure I have adhd, and minimalism like this appeals to me so it's less shit I have take care of, every item in your house is a fucking dust collector that you have to wipe down, fuck that shit, I only want the absolute essentials, rest is slowly going to the bin

[–] DrBob@lemmy.ca 8 points 20 hours ago

I lived like this the first year of my postdoc and couldn't have been happier. I had 4 place settings but only used one and washed it after every meal. Desk, computer, one camp chair, and an inflatable mattress. Stayed that way until my wife joined me my second year and made me get a real apartment.

[–] DmMacniel@feddit.org 24 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Out of frame: a huge ass TV and a single armchair.

[–] arrow74@lemmy.zip 9 points 21 hours ago

Why have an armchair? Just roll the gaming chair over

[–] ulterno@programming.dev 1 points 13 hours ago

Needs more HDDs.
And more screens.

I'm hoping there is an HVAC outlet not in view and the whole room has UPS.

[–] notarobot@lemmy.zip 2 points 15 hours ago

Beeds to be smaller. That is just empty space that need to be cleaned. Also it being so large seems like it would be cold on lonely winter nights
