Actual footage from the attempt

[–] bradinutah@thelemmy.club 4 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Does this mean that the Big Beautiful Bill is all a lie and they're secretly funding and building a super weapon to destroy the planet?

[–] Cort@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Well there is a large reserve of ~~deep substrate foliated kalkite~~ oil under LA

[–] Grimtuck@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The US already have the weapons to destroy the planet. Just need to inhabit Mars and leave before they use them.

[–] Aussiemandeus@aussie.zone 2 points 1 day ago

Elon wants to go there so I'll skip Mars and head straight out to the belt.

OPA unite

[–] Alteon@lemmy.world 33 points 2 days ago (4 children)

Ah yes, the dangerous criminals that are out farming for slave wages. Good job ICE. I'm assuming that ICE is going to punish the farmer that employed these dangerous criminals? ICE has entirely lost the fucking plot...

[–] seejur@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

I can't wait for those MAGAS to finally get those lost jobs, and go pick up fruits and veggies for * check notes * 2 dollar an hour!

Surely we'll see republicans back to the farms, any moment from now

[–] Bakkoda@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 days ago

The plot is to make people angry enough where they do something worthy of getting black bagged. The US government wants people to act irrationally.

[–] gabbath@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

lost the fucking plot

Oh they never had it to begin with. They were always just nazis, but now the leash is off. Even worse, they're being pushed to fill quotas, which incentivizes recklessness and cruelty.

I’m at a point now where I can’t wait for this all to blow up. Literally and figuratively.

Going after our farm workers is not going to end well for anyone. I can only hope that someone in power will wake up and do something about it.

[–] peteyestee@feddit.org 7 points 1 day ago

They just need to make them prisoners and then they will be able to get back to working in the fields again.

[–] TehWorld@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

The people in power all see this as an absolute win. The things they're trying to do about it is hire more ICE agents. It's going to take a while before this blows up, and the only real way out of it is to hope that we have elections in a few years.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

Cool, so we can look forward to empty shelves in grocery stores for domestic products and steep tariffs on foreign food products?

[–] andybytes@programming.dev 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This is such a limp dick country... I fucking hate the USA... Genocidal fascist imperialist shit stain of a country.

[–] peteyestee@feddit.org 2 points 1 day ago

Make America Hard Again!

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Real Americans don't eat vegetables!

[–] andybytes@programming.dev 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's why they got so much ass cancer hahahaha

[–] peteyestee@feddit.org 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

It works out better for them if we are dead, they have what they need to move forward and it doesn't work with us alive.

[–] MyOpinion@lemmy.today 153 points 3 days ago (13 children)

These complete morons will not have food if these people do not pick the food.

[–] in4apenny@lemmy.dbzer0.com 84 points 3 days ago (29 children)

Gaza is the testing grounds for what life is about to be like in the West. Starvation will be used as a weapon eventually, and who's gonna stop them?

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 52 points 3 days ago (15 children)

who’s gonna stop them?

I guess we'll be finding out in LA.

[–] webghost0101@sopuli.xyz 38 points 3 days ago (4 children)

I believe the front will be a little Bigger then just LA after a few days.

There are nationwide protests planed on the fascists bday and he already promised to send the military to any form of protest.

Every day I get news about the gestapo capturing the enemies of the reich and throwing them in box cars, and I hear nothing about citizens doing anything to stop them.

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 27 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

There are protests and people mobbing ice agents and standing in front of the boxcars and stuff. In LA/Paramount there were enough that they shit their pants and called daddy for backup. It’s not really possible for these remote farming communities to have mobs of people overwhelming ice because there just aren’t that many people in the middle of nowhere farms.

If you haven’t heard about any resistance activity I strongly recommend you reconsider how and where you consume media.

[–] Alteon@lemmy.world 19 points 2 days ago

100% this. There's been resistance everywhere over this. Minnesota drove out a bunch of ICE agents from their neighborhoods, there's been major protests all over the US about it. Like... we're for sure doing it.

[–] tamal3@lemmy.world 23 points 2 days ago (6 children)

ICE is sneaking around the back roads in my city, and a local network sends out warning messages to local immigrants. I'm looking into what I can do as a citizen to make it more difficult for ICE, but I'm impressed by the messaging network that has been set up.

Be sure to let them know about privacy services. Don't want them to be tracked doing the lords work.

It's a big country and unless the protesters have someway of knowing where the raids would happen before hand, you wont see them there. That's why you see them(or don't if the media is suppressing the story) at the detention centers or hotels they're staying at.

food is going to get so fucking expensive...

like eggs, we're heading toward a produce shortage. Our supply of eggs is fine now, but prices are still high. They're gonna do the same thing with produce.

[–] Olgratin_Magmatoe@startrek.website 95 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Surely this will decrease food prices /s

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 41 points 2 days ago (2 children)

This at the same time maga is calling for a boycott of walmart. They just keep punching themselves in the face.

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 23 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Someone posted the other day something like "A stupid person is someone who creates net negative gains. For example, they hurt themselves and others, and gain nothing from it."

Yeah but who got in trouble for hiring them? Did the farm owner run?

[–] Hegar@fedia.io 113 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It's only a crime to be an exploited worker. It's not a crime to exploit workers.

[–] pressedhams@lemmy.blahaj.zone 25 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] evenglow@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

It's a crime to be poor. It's not a crime to be rich.

It was never about right or wrong or morals. It has always been about control. 97% of modern politics is to distract from this.

[–] School_Lunch@lemmy.world 53 points 3 days ago

That's how you know this is all political bull shit. If they actually wanted to solve the "problem" in a much easier, more efficient way, then they would just go after the people that hire them.

[–] Brkdncr@lemmy.world 29 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Farm owner likely voted for this.

Like the scene in Andor. That series was very on point when it comes to the political landscape in the US today.

Oh but your average employment-seeker will totally line up to do that job for slave wages, so it’s all gud. /s

[–] conditional_soup@lemm.ee 55 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

We've already seen the ghost of Christmas future here, it's when Georgia implemented their live scan law and all the small and mid size farmers in Georgia lost their whole harvest (and subsequently, the farm) because they just couldn't get Americans to come and pick for what they're willing to pay. A lot of these farmers voted and stumped for Trump, believing that certainly the face eating leopard who eats everyone's face and promises to eat everyone's face wouldn't eat their face. Get ready for a lot of "waaahhh, I didn't think he would hurt meeeeeeee" from these guys as millions of pounds of tomatoes rot on the vine this summer.

Also, this just fucking sucks. I live in the central valley, ag is a really big deal here, and a lot of ag workers are really hard-working stand up folks. Nobody deserves ICE, but these folks especially don't deserve it. I'd like to take this opportunity to wish ICE agents a very merry court date ASAP.

[–] hexonxonx@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 2 days ago

And the bankrupt farms will be bought up en-masse by corporations owned by Gates and other billionaires who will "make a deal" to let them get away with ~~slave~~ immigrant labor. It's part of the plan.

"They're just taking innocent people who are trying to build their own American Dream," said Daniel Larios with the UFW Foundation. "This is not law enforcement. It's a campaign of fear against people whose only 'crime' is living and working in the U.S."

America is about to be really "healthy."

[–] Catoblepas@piefed.blahaj.zone 30 points 3 days ago

May every raid these fucks try to do be in the afternoon heat in full gear, with a raging hangover.
