Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

It's terrifying to see it visualized like that.

I dread the elections in France in 2027. France is one of the last bastions of Freedom that is capable of standing up to the authoritarian states if push comes to shove. The last few presidential elections have moved France closer and closer to having a Kremlin sock puppet in charge. While they have managed to pull back from the brink a few times, it only needs to go wrong once.

I think you have a much higher opinion of French political culture than is warranted.

To answer your question:

The Insurrection Act of 1807 allows the president to use active-duty military personnel to perform law-enforcement duties inside the US.

Once invoked, troops could be tasked with a range of duties, from quelling civil unrest and enforcing court orders to arresting and detaining migrants.

Because the Insurrection Act was written in broad terms, with little specific guidance on how and when the powers can be used, it gives presidents wide latitude in deciding when to mobilise military personnel for domestic operations.

Time to bring in the army to oppress the citizenry. Hoo rah!

Not sure what the next one is, but the last one will be the "War on internal terror" aka IWOT. After that it's over

You ignored something as bluntly unlawful as orwelian Patrioct Act becouse it was happening to "them". The ammended one will happen to you.

[–] 0_o7@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 18 hours ago

Nah, they ignored their own army slaughtering innocent civilians and said "welp, that's too bad, but not my problem".

Now the rest of the world they destabilized get to say "well, that's too bad"

Fascism just is imperialist repression turned inward.

Deportation of "homegrowns". He's not exactly subtle about it. Watch out for talk about violent criminals being too dangerous to be allowed to stay in America.

A return of the concept of "unamerican" art and activities, to support the destruction and suppression of said things.

I'd normally say book burnings first, but those have been an on-off thing in some parts of the states since the 50s.

So I'll go with "officially endorsed" book burnings. Not officially organised, mind, but an actual expression of support shown.

Burning still has too much of a negative connotation.

They'll pressure to expand more on banning books in schools, public libraries, pull public funding and restrict government aid payouts for universities unless they follow suit. They'll let states decide that they can ban books for sale online unless the site forces an age check. They'll give responsibility for the age check system to a corporation that is expected to do a lackluster job and wash their hands of it when there are complaints. Maybe some day they'll step in to 'fix' it resulting in taking it down for maintenance and restructuring and then they just... never bring it back up. They'll have a system for brick & mortar stores too, but it will be so excessive that few will bother.

Making HRT straight up illegal

Sending dissidents, queer people, immigrants, and political rivals on a one way trip to El Salvador

Lining up military forces along the Canadian and Mexican borders, then a moment of dementia when Trump says he'll do the same to Greenland

AI meets eugenics meets racism

I'm going to start considering Hilary the canary in the coal mine. As long as she is in the country, free, and breathing this authoritarian regime hasn't taken complete control yet.

[–] seeigel@feddit.org 3 points 1 day ago

For whatever reason I feel like Musk is waking up to the fact that people really reject his policies. If he is one of the masterminds that could mean that things change.

But it's more likely that those losses in sales were accepted sacrifices.

And yet, I cannot imagine that things can significantly get worse. The media and economy is controlled, the chat messages can be intercepted. What else could an authoritarian regime want? Why remove the illusion that people are free?

I rather think that the actions taken are just there to make the rightwing voters think that something is done. But their situation cannot improve. But there is also not much more chaos that can be created beyond cripling US producation capacities.

This only leaves bold foreign policy options. My guess would be that it's time for the Iran invasion.

If it's actually about creating authoritarianism then the next step is militarising the population. Create a 'work force' and have all unemployed people do manual communal work in groups. Also create a civil leader for every block or street.

Instead of paying compliments at the table to Trump, Trump's cabinet must take turns gargling Trump's balls

Ivankas review:

"Like swishing two raising around in my mouth. The taste, though, like a tire fire mixed with strong chemicals."

Well, the bronzer definitely gets everywhere

At this rate, probably a tax and tariff on the right to breathe air.

[–] samus12345@lemm.ee 4 points 1 day ago

If you drive a car, I'll tariff the street

If you try to sit, I'll tariff your seat

If you get too cold, I'll tariff the heat

If you take a walk, I'll tariff your feet

Tariffman!

I want to hear my parents justify that one. That is, seconds before I blow my brains out.

Revolution or capitulation. With the US lately it'll probably be capitulation.
