Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

Germany has persecuted more jews for political reasons this past year than for the past five decades. But yeah sure why not.

[–] Vincentmario@feddit.uk 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I tried looking this up but I couldn't find anything. What source are you referring to exactly? I'm probably searching wrong

[–] Carl@hexbear.net 19 points 1 day ago

idk if anyone has tracked this specific statistic, but I am referring to the prosecution of pro-Palestine speakers and organizers, many of whom are Jewish.

Here's one two three articles on the topic.

The same shit hole that is deporting pro Palestinian protestors? The same shit hole which their neo nazi party is polling #1? Lol okay sure.

The world’s leading democracy that banned the Communist Party of Germany; the only party that actually cared about stopping Nazis pre-WW2, coincidentally is now seeing a return of Nazis to the Bundestag in their absence.

Why is this not in fakenews or badposting?

[–] vovchik_ilich@hexbear.net 6 points 1 day ago

Slop would be fitting too

[–] GnastyGnuts@hexbear.net 28 points 1 day ago

Liberalism has ruined the word "democracy" by making it about vibes and process over actual democratic outcomes.

I hate Germans so much that yes I blame them for world war 1 even though I know it wasn’t their fault

[–] WizardOfLoneliness@hexbear.net 30 points 1 day ago (1 children)

yeah if you ignore China, the actual world leader

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 15 points 1 day ago

Give it 6 months and nobody is going to be able to ignore it.

Especially if China single handedly humiliates Trump into ending tariffs on other countries by just refusing to engage.

I'm so fucking done with this "democracy" bullshit

The dedication to free speech, by allowing the AfD to point out the true fact, that Muslims are not human. Shows that European Democracy is in good hands in Germany, even once the AfD takes control of the government.

“Muslims are Nazis” ~ euro 🤡

Germany today not only scores an impressive 95 out of 100 on the Freedom House index, reflecting strong civil liberties and political rights, but also ranks as the world’s third-largest economy, trailing only the U.S. and China.

even in this admittedly short article this is the only paragraph that even explains the headlines premise. Largest Economy is also right out of the windows as a signifier since I'm pretty sure China is not one according to who wrote this, so the entire premise is 95/100 on the Freedom House Index.

The current score also isn't as of yet backed by anything except them saying it because the report isn't available and even within the spaces this inhabitats I have some inkling as to what way this will go after the a whole lot of respectable institutions have chided germany over their handling of the reflamed israel/palestine war

[–] TrustedFeline@hexbear.net 19 points 1 day ago

We're dropping in the burger index?!

Please, are we really trying to pretend?

How could avoiding the whole elephant in the room, a country that was basically for anyone to been seen exposed for the us puppet state that it is, be a leading democracy.

Literally all decisions was just following Washington and being ignored, while failing and causing further damage to the global south.

Germany is the only democracy in Europe

[–] Alaskaball@hexbear.net 11 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Shizrael gets to participate in that European music festival competition that's exclusively for European countries. As far as I'm concerned, germany's stealing the spotlight.

[–] AstroStelar@hexbear.net 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

"Exclusively for European countries" it's a bit more complicated than that, technically it's about countries that are (partially) covered by this area:

The boundaries of the European Broadcasting Area have their origin in the regions served and linked by telegraphy cables in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The European Broadcasting Area plays a part in the definition of eligibility for active membership in the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and thus participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. As of February 2022, the European Broadcasting Union has 66 members from 55 countries, 31 associates from 20 countries, and 8 approved participants.

Australia is one of the associate members and got to participate for an anniversary, but for whatever reason they stuck. Morocco participated once in the 1980's, where they placed second to last. Reasons for the lack of Arab countries are probably lack of interest, the participation of Israel and cold reception by Europeans.

Headline is a bit misleading as a majority of the post is about the United States descent in to trump-based authoritarianism. Less is said about Germany beyond the first paragraph.

[–] 9to5@hexbear.net 3 points 1 day ago

Uh. That just happened
