Everyone's convinced the second we create God it's going to hate our guts and that is sure a statement on humanity's self-image.

Slop posts go in c/slop. Don't post low-hanging fruit here.
Wasn't there a post where an Israeli bot turned on them and started posting anti-idf stuff or something?
So its happening? I guess?
May Computer God judge us and find us worthy!
Americhristian self- image, but yeah.
True, there are plenty of people who are probably living their lives free of the shadow of even a benevolent robot god.
Google Roko's basilisk. These people are worse than you think.
I'm very familiar with these people and their 'thought hazards'. True-anon's latest episode is a deep dive into these 'rationalists' and This Machine Kills has an episode on effective altruism if you want to make yourself really angry
Roko's basilisk is a thought experiment which states that an otherwise benevolent artificial superintelligence (AI) in the future would be incentivized to create a virtual reality simulation to torture anyone who knew of its potential existence but did not directly contribute to its advancement or development, in order to incentivize said advancement.
Damn, that the dumbest thing I've heard in a while. Most of the AI discourse I've heard from techbros is baseless conjecture, but the "rational" speculation that an AI would create a torture matrix to force everyone to make it smarter has to be the silliest. I think it says more about the misanthropy of these nerds than anything related to computer science.
It's Pascal's Wager for Western rationalists

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:
Holy crap! I know the answer to this one.
Forty-two.
What if someone punishes us for our hubris quicker and cheaper than the God we make?
This is basically the premise of Warren Ellis' Supergod
