Someone in his circle must have told him Taiwan is part of China.

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 66 points 4 days ago

I hope to god Trump literally says "Lotsa people don't know this but Taiwan is part of China..." Trump is horrible and his second term will be a nightmare but the least there will be an insane amount batshit humor.

[–] KatGirl@hexbear.net 70 points 3 days ago (1 children)

???? Taiwan is your unsinkable aircraft carrier why are you doing this? I mean yes Mr. President, brilliant decision, I think you should sanction them even more actually

[–] volcel_olive_oil@hexbear.net 39 points 3 days ago

a-little-trolling "they said 100% tariffs was all the tariffs you could have. well, they were wrong, Trump tariffs go to 200, 300, 10000%! they should have bought american!"

Doing this while not properly allocating the astronomical amount of funding that the semiconductor industry would need in the US is in-character and hilariously foolish.

The US could do so much for the world/themselves if they’d just invest in open source RISC-V manufacturing and R&D inside of the US. But they only understand corporatist-style handouts and amasssing warchests of proprietary technology. It’s even more shortsighted than shipping your manufacturing overseas and having an enemy nation manufacture all of your critical tech hardware while foolishly glossing over the security ramifications of that plan.

Lol, what the fuck does he hope to accomplish with this? What the hell does he think is going to happen when his please-save-me base can't get their jalapeno poppers any more?

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 48 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

He wants to force the production to move to America in order to bypass tariffs.

It can't without the skilled workforce though. Nothing magically speeds up building a skilled workforce in the US either.

powercry-1 Develop Capacity?

only-throw No investment in personnel, only tariff!

[–] blobjim@hexbear.net 62 points 4 days ago (4 children)

[–] StalinIsMaiWaifu@lemmygrad.ml 39 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Comrade Trump is an old Soviet sleeper agent whose conditioning is going haywire and determined that doing an accelerationism will revive the revolution

[–] UmbraVivi@hexbear.net 35 points 3 days ago

Folks, the bourgeois, they’re no good everyone is saying it. All these workers, very handsome workers come up to me and say, Comrade Trump there is a specter haunting Europe, and you know what, they’re right. These bourgeois are very nasty people very very rude and very unfair to the workers. They are stealing our surplus value and no one is doing anything about it. The proletariat comes up to me everyday and says, Comrade Trump will you lead the revolution? And I gotta turn to them and say, Look the instruments of capitalism will be used to bring about its destruction believe me you gotta trust me on this one. The means of production, obama never wanted to seize them. Well guess what? I’m seizing them. Landlords? They’re done for folks. Everyone told me they said, Comrade Trump you won’t be the vanguard of the revolution and they would laugh, the media laughed the democrats laughed, guess whose laughing now? a-little-trolling

>Trump hears about Chinese AI hurting the rich

>Trump places tariff on the Republic of China

His brain fluid is Big Mac sauce, his brain tissue is 7.5% prion disease. Allah willing he disbands the US before walking directly off a cliff

I am continually vindicated in my opinion that Trump would be better than Kamala for the world at large (before any of you comprehension-lacking dinguses comment: Better does not mean good)

Lmfao it's as if these people don't know how to run an Empire. Half of us here would do a better job.

[–] Wheaties@hexbear.net 26 points 3 days ago

I'd resign try to permanently resign from the security council. Pretty sure all it takes is a president and an ambassador appointment to pull off.

[–] nohaybanda@hexbear.net 12 points 3 days ago

Half of us here would do a better job.

I'd be driving it into a wall first chance I get though

[–] Imnecomrade@hexbear.net 12 points 3 days ago

This empire is being ran like the IT morons at my workplace, where every time they fail, it is a spectacular trainwreck that grinds the company to a halt.

[–] WhatDoYouMeanPodcast@hexbear.net 11 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

I would be absentee, pursuing my hobbies, having to be briefed on the strategic elements and all of the security constantly. Only to support China and use the military for humanitarian efforts. Advocate for renewables at every step. Then I would abdicate ASAP if I were so lucky as to be given the option to not be assassinated, but I'd negotiate up to the full president's salary

Donaldo trump please no i havent upgraded my pc since 2013 please dont make it any more expensive

[–] Weedian@hexbear.net 11 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Literally this is why I bought a new PC last month. My old computer was also from 2013

[–] theoneIno@lemmy.ml 3 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

doing this next month, luckily I'm not in the US

and same, pc from 2013 lol

[–] Weedian@hexbear.net 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

hell yeah what are you getting? I got a 7800x3d, rtx 4070 super and 64 GB RAM. I figured since my last PC lasted over a decade I go all in and hope my new lasts almost that long too.

[–] theoneIno@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Nice!

I'm getting 32GB RAM to start (1 stick so I can expand to 128GB eventually) + Ryzen 7950X + 4TB m2 SSD

then when I have the money, I'll upgrade my GTX 1070 to a 24GB 7900 XTX GPU

Hope we all get the computer power we need!

I'll try running some local AI as well

About lasting a decade, I'm thinking the exact same thing! Hopefully this one will last even longer than that, I mean, my PC from 2013 still runs most games from nowadays and there is only so much room for heavier games and applications

[–] Weedian@hexbear.net 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I upgraded from an i5 4690k and gtx 970 lol. I had to underclock my 970 a few years ago to keep it alive

[–] theoneIno@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

damn, thankfully my brother gave me a 1070, I had a 760 before which was on its last days too lol

and my current processor is a i7-2600 + 24 GB DDR3 1333 mhz
