"Communist Party Member Household" - for those of us who can't read it.

Same on the tiktok v RedNote thing. Never got into tiktok, but RedNote has me wanting to visit Chengdu.

Fascist propaganda is posting hot dog ads of yesteryear or some fantasy isekai.

Leftist propaganda is literally posting a random city in China in the modern day

I think I saw this person's account earlier. Their house looked pretty rough, but regarding their internet access, they said it was "very very very fast!" which kind of made me laugh.

[–] godlessworm@hexbear.net 25 points 1 week ago

yeah they said their grandpa or dad started building the house like 40 years ago and it never got finished so its in rough shape

with that being said i dont own a house or even have enough to rent my own apartment so i would be happy to have what they have.

I was reading the comments on that video; I'll post both the Mandarin and translation:

她在中国另一个平台是一个拥有2.2万粉丝的博主,在城市里有车有房过着富裕的生活,以她一口流利的英语就知道她是接受过大学教育的人。这只是她的祖宅,年久失修,因为不会长久居住(甚至不住)。至于为什么在这里哭穷,聪明的中国人都知道。流量能让她赚更多的钱! She is a blogger with 22,000 followers on another platform in China. She has a car and a house and lives a wealthy life in the city. From her fluent English, we can tell that she is a college-educated person. This is just her ancestral home, which has fallen into disrepair because she will not live in it for a long time (or even not live in it). As for why she is crying poor here, smart Chinese people know it. Traffic can make her more money!

Because she is really deceiving you. This house is not the one she has lived in in recent years. In China, a woman who can speak English and fluent Mandarin is definitely well educated. According to her education level, her income is not low. The house she lives in must be in the city. She deliberately went back to the abandoned dilapidated house many years ago to shoot videos to attract traffic. You foreigners, someone has offered to give her money. Although she refused, because she knew that if she accepted the money, we would report her for fraud!

People need to make a note of this. This is the general userbase of XHS, it's a microcosm of Chinese society, it's not really representative of the average. As a general rule, anyone who comes from a non western/global south country whose lingua franca is not English, and can speak/communicate in English fluently (and not a dialect of English that's learnt from TV/social media/videogames/using translation software), is generally wealthier than most people from their country. Don't believe everything you see on the internet.

This gets really obvious when talking to Venezuelans being reactionary. They'll write English like a native speaker, then when you ask them what their family does, they'll tell you they own their own company. And it's like "Oh. So you hate socialism because the communists took away your rental properties."

The Venezuela stuff was making its rounds back in 2016ish when the US failed to do a coup. So a bunch of reactionaries who fled the country after failing were all over online lamenting about it.

I've not been able to successfully link directly to any videos yet unless they are shared within the app itself. Either way, search for this and you might find it as it is the title of the video:

I'll tell you the truth我来告诉你真相

Be aware some Chinese users are claiming she is a fraud and this is a house she abandoned and she really lives in the city. That this is her trying to get a following to monetize her account.

I saw that post. They randomly blurt out and point to Taiwan saying Taiwan is a part of China. Seems bizarre to me.

[–] godlessworm@hexbear.net 4 points 1 week ago

i don't know anything about taiwan tbh
