The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

All posts must be legitimate questions, and all post titles must include a question. Questions that are joke or trolling questions, memes, song lyrics as title, etc. are not allowed here. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.

Rule 2- Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.

Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

He should be sentenced if he is a sitting president. Eric Adams didn't get a free pass for being in office and neither should the president because the president isn't a fucking king.

He won't be due to how shit our system is, or he would have been sentenced months ago like a normal person.

You better watch your mouth or he'll send Seal Team 6 to delete your ass. It'll be an official act so it won't be illegal for him to do so.

He can be, but they won’t.

[–] Vent@lemm.ee 133 points 2 weeks ago (27 children)

It is a universal axiom that any question starting with "Will Trump ever face consequences for..." can be answered with "no".

If, instead of prison, Trump was faced with a free luxury mansion on a private island and a $1B/yr pension to live out the rest of his years Epstein style, Kamala may have had a chance. As soon as the alternative included a hint of repercussions for his actions, the universe simply could not allow it.

Have you met the Supreme Court? No he's not going to be in jail.

Oh no, of course he can't. There's decorum and precedent to consider! Best to give him free reign to do whatever the fuck he wants without fear of consequence or repercussion.

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 28 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Wouldn't want to upset our dear ruler now would we?

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

Nor do those with similar positions as him want to establish precedent that they can be held accountable, which is the root reason why it took 4 years to accomplish exactly nothing.

[–] K1nsey6@lemmy.world 50 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I projected three years ago that come the 2024 election it's all going to dissolve into a nothing burger, regardless who wins, it was solely a dog and pony show to keep us divided and on edge. The same way that Hunter Biden suddenly is no longer discussed now that Biden is out of the race.

[–] sudoshakes@reddthat.com 33 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

They wrote. It down.

It may prove to not end in consequences, but they took notes on a criminal conspiracy before the outcome and it’s part of evidence submitted in federal court.

Nothing burger is not nothing.

It's always to distract you from who is really pulling the strings. The super wealthy.

[–] Pacattack57@lemmy.world 42 points 2 weeks ago

No the DOJ will begin winding down all investigations and closing cases against trump effective immediately. They are just trying to figure out how to do it.

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 42 points 2 weeks ago

No.

It's over. Trump is never going to be held accountable for any of it. In a few years he'll die peacefully in his bed like Kissinger did.

It’s all going away. There will be no punishment. We’re done here.

To be clear, none of that is a good thing.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 27 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

As a first time offender, he may not be getting a jail sentence regardless. Even if he did, though, he could just file an appeal and in the time it would take to hear it, he would be President and whatever sentence would be immediately put on hold l.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

He's not getting sentenced. Period. He never was. All of these delays have been powerful people kicking the can down the curb, waiting for a way to make the whole thing go away. They don't want politicians and billionaires being held accountable, or then they too may one day be held accountable.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 25 points 2 weeks ago

Laws only apply to poor people.

[–] henfredemars@infosec.pub 25 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

You’re mistaken. He is a king now.

[–] scala@lemmy.ml 16 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

When a clown moves into a palace, he doesn't become king. The palace becomes a circus.

Chief Justice Roberts is ready and willing to kiss the ring... and lick the boots when ordered.

What part of "untouchable" do some people still just not comprehend?

[–] KombatWombat@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Honestly, there is a reasonable chance he gets assassinated this term. No one is out of reach from the sword of Damocles.

it's fucking joever, if the guy didn't have the nuts to nip this in the bud, he's certainly not going to grow a pair now and give him his just desserts.

[–] 4grams@awful.systems 10 points 2 weeks ago

No, turnip will never face a consequence. Never.

I’m not religious but I am starting to wonder.

[–] eran_morad@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

aint shit gonna happen.

[–] ilost7489@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 weeks ago

Theoretically, yes he can. Under US law (if the justice system was working correctly at all), no individual is above the law.

However, it is very unlikely. Trump is stupidly popular amongst people willing to overturn the establishment to let him do whatever he wants. Not to mention that he has a favourable supreme court that can just choose not to prosecute him.

[–] Maggoty@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

Yes, he can.

But he won't be, or he'll be given a suspended sentence that will never be supervised.
