Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

I’ve never noticed a difference on either end

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–] Kit@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 2 months ago

Same. I prefer the ultra thins. Anything else really doesn't feel differently on the receiving end, even the ridged ones.

For which party?

Now, I've never taken it in the ass unless you count colonoscopy and other medical invasions. But I've fucked partners in the ass, though only women. Sorry, I'm hetero, so there's limits to my willingness to do it for science lol.

However, I love gay dudes. Always have, and you might be amazed at how willing those guys are to talk about such things to a token straight.

The real answer is that it varies. People that like anal don't all like the same things.

I would say, on average, that most people don't want/need/enjoy the extra texture for anal. You can't really feel the ribs on your dick anyway, no matter what you're putting it in. At least that's what I've been told by other guys, and I know I can't.

With vaginal, women can usually feel the difference, and there's the usual "it depends on the person" as to whether or not it's enjoyed. But anally, the extra friction can be intense supposedly. That isn't always wanted, and can turn a nice anal session into a failed anal session.

Back in our younger days, when my best friend/roomie would bring guys home, the preference was definitely for standard condoms. One dude did bring his own ribbed though. Asked if it was going to be a three-way too, but that's another story lol.

And that's generally the word I have from gay guys. It's not the norm, but you'll run into some dedicated bottoms that prefer condoms with texture. That's local/regional though, it could be different elsewhere.

I do know that the condom box at one of the clubs I bounced at would run out of pretty much everything else before the ribbed. Eventually, they stocked magnums instead. Those sold like crazy. The free condoms at the bar were all whatever got donated, and it was always just grab and go, so I never noticed any patterns there

It's one of those things you'd have to try to know whether or not it was worth trying lol.

that's really funny. I had an FWB (let's say Katie) that I was still friends with but not sleeping with because she had started dating somebody. she'd recently broken up with him, and her closest girl friend got absolutely sloshed and called me from Katie's phone asking if she could watch us fuck.

[–] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Lmao! Gotta love lowered inhibitions.

So, how did she like the show? I'm joking, no worries there.

[–] tilefan@lemm.ee 9 points 2 months ago

lol my friend was sober, she took the phone away and told me to go ahead and come over. the one who wanted to watch had passed out on the couch by then, so we went to the bedroom.

I only know of one way to find out.

[–] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Eh, if you've got a prostate (aka you were AMAB) that's probably doing most of the work so ribs likely wouldn't matter. If you've seen toys designed for anal they often involve much more dramatic texturing (i.e. anal beads) since that will trigger a sensation that ribbing likely won't.

And, if you think about it logically, if you're constipated you kind of don't want to feel every minor fissure or bump on what's coming out.

So as an AMAB I haven't observed a difference and I kind of doubt AFABs would either.

[–] ada@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It's not so much AMAB/AFAB as vaginal canal vs no vaginal canal. A person with a prostate and a vaginal canal doesn't get as much pressure on the prostate from anal.

[–] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Oh, interesting - but a plug would probably fix that right? AFABs lack the prostate entirely, so that bundle of nerves doesn't really help with sensations.

[–] ada@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It's not a matter of "fixing" so much as things moving around. After bottom surgery, the vaginal canal sits between the prostate and the anal canal, so sensation to the prostate is reduced with anal sex. However, the prostate ends up sitting approximately where the "g spot" is in AFAB folk, and so is more easily accessed via the vaginal canal

[–] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 months ago

My terminology was a bit lacking - but that's interesting, TIL!

So, for transwomen the nerves you're dealing with for stimulation during anal probably are really close to ciswomen.

[–] stoly@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago (2 children)

If you like a lot of sensation then u might like it. I found that it made it painful but I think that was a latex thing more than a surface texture thing. Too bad they don’t make them in plastic.

[–] massacre@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

they do... look into polyurethane

[–] stoly@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I meant ribbed. Maybe they do now.

[–] massacre@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

oh, never looked into that

[–] SendMePhotos@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

They make lambskin condoms for those with latex allergies.

[–] stoly@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

It was more a friction thing. Rubber is sticky even when lubricated.

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 4 points 2 months ago

I dunno about condoms but my ribbed dildos feel better than the smooth ones 🤷🏻‍♂️

[–] Wahots@pawb.social 3 points 2 months ago

They don't really make much of a difference, imo. There are wearable products out there that can add a texture difference, but they are incompatible with condoms if you are trying to reduce the risk of STDs.

That said, there are many ways to spice up sex in new and fun ways, even outside of condom choice :)
