Is this is what happens when you don't assume a spherical cow?

[–] RecluseRamble@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 4 months ago (2 children)

I thought you're supposed to assume a vacuum.

[–] mexicancartel@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Assume both otherwise we have to face center of gravity issues.

Maybe let the cow be a point mass?

[–] LynneOfFlowers@midwest.social 4 points 4 months ago

That does tend to simplify the aerodynamics modeling

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 27 points 4 months ago (1 children)

they forgot to model the ~~aero~~methane-spike from the cow fart.

I mean it definitely reduces over all drag.

[–] abcd@feddit.org 22 points 4 months ago (1 children)

If we install a nozzle with a check valve leaving the methane out but no flames in, we could build pulse jet driven bionic cows.

This wouldn’t change the aerodynamics at all but definitely increase the cows speed and reduce the global warming effect a bit

[–] Cuzscience@lemmy.world 16 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Calculations are simpler if …….. you assume a spherical cow!

[–] supercriticalcheese@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

That is an assumption that a physicist would do.

As they say, knowledge is power, France is bacon.

Thanks. If anyone in the future asks my opinion regarding breast size, I can safely say that a preliminary study has shown that, aerodynamically speaking, it is better to have large breasts.

[–] CookieOfFortune@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Only if you’re facing the wind directly. In other orientations it may not be ideal. The analysis appears incomplete.

[–] Huschke@programming.dev 1 points 4 months ago

Allright, another qualifier to my statement it is. 😅

[–] Mercuri@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

This is fantastic, lol

[–] blackn1ght@feddit.uk 10 points 4 months ago

This is udderly ridiculous

[–] dingus@lemmy.world 9 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Makes it look like this cow is speedy as fuck

[–] midimalist@lemdro.id 8 points 4 months ago

i need to know its power level.

[–] Nooodel@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Is its drag coefficient better than a modern day SUV's?

[–] Retrograde@lemmy.world 7 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Everything is better than modern day SUVs

[–] Etterra@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

It's fuel efficiency sure is.

[–] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 2 points 4 months ago

Definitely better than a Jeep Wrangler.

[–] homesnatch@lemm.ee 5 points 4 months ago

France is Bacon

[–] Venator@lemmy.nz 5 points 4 months ago

But is it more aerodynamic than a brick?

[–] MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 5 points 4 months ago

"...and at the quarter turn, odds fav Merry Bell is running a full length behind Morning Milk. Morning Milk won the Nickel Pasture Jaunt last week..."

I know what to do with this information!

Rotate it in my mind. It’s free. No one can stop me.

[–] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 2 points 4 months ago

This is why my plan to put wings and a rocket on a cow actually made sense!

Take that, you luddite aspca goons! That cow would have revolutionized human travel!

[–] FartsWithAnAccent@fedia.io 1 points 4 months ago

You are steered for takeoff.

[–] Pantoffel@feddit.de 1 points 4 months ago

Will this increase the quality of our weather and climate models?
