Talk about a poisoned gift...

Nobody wants gifts from Israel, but Ukraine desperately needs the hardware.
Damned if they do, damned if they don't...

This is even worse they bought these from them and they are basically moving aid from EU and NATO to Israel Wich get its stuff from the US for free..

Honestly I’d rather Ukraine have them than Israel. Am I supposed to be mad that they’ve micro-disarmed by doing this? Fuck no that’s a bit less firepower in Israel’s hands

Keep going! We love your charity Israel, give it ALL to Ukraine! 🥴

This is not a "poisoned gift". I would argue it's inappropriate to use the term in this context.

We don't have any other option. Considering the situation it would be absurd to not accept the Patriot systems. Hopefully the PAC-2's will be upgraded by the Americans to newer variants to better deal will "regular" ballistic missiles and the Kh-47M2 Kinzhal hypersonic missiles.

For real, who can judge them for this

[–] _edge@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yes, that's why it's potentially poison. Ukraine had no other option than to take it. No one will blame them.

I still don't see how transfer of Patriot systems from Israel is akin to taking a poisoned gift. In context of the idiom, this doesn't make sense.

They are just buying Ukranian support for their warcrimes. Damned if you don't, damned if you do.

What do you mean by "Ukrainian support for their war crimes"? Be clear and specific.

Israel is trying to whitewash their genocide by "supporting" the conflict that would bring in the most good PR, which happens to be the Russia-Ukraine war.

It says little about Ukraine, a bit more about Israel, but a lot about public conscience - people are rising up against Israeli genocide, and Israel feels the need to do something to shift the media focus.
