Yes, that's why it's potentially poison. Ukraine had no other option than to take it. No one will blame them.

I still don't see how transfer of Patriot systems from Israel is akin to taking a poisoned gift. In context of the idiom, this doesn't make sense.

They are just buying Ukranian support for their warcrimes. Damned if you don't, damned if you do.

What do you mean by "Ukrainian support for their war crimes"? Be clear and specific.

Essentially, Israel is trying to whitewash its genocide by supporting the "good guys" in the most PR-friendly war currently being waged.

It says little about Ukraine - taking the weapons doesn't mean they support Israel (although bootlicking may be expected for the Israeli "gesture" to continue) - in fact, it means one less armament actively genociding, which is a plus.

It says little about Israel - they're a genocidal state with or without the move.

But it says a lot about the public conscience - Israel feels threathened by it to the point that sending arms to Ukraine as a diversionary tactic to shift the media focus is a thing that they're doing. In other words, people are starting to open their eyes and see Israeli "liberatory warfare" for what it is - a genocide.

Israel is trying to whitewash their genocide by "supporting" the conflict that would bring in the most good PR, which happens to be the Russia-Ukraine war.

It says little about Ukraine, a bit more about Israel, but a lot about public conscience - people are rising up against Israeli genocide, and Israel feels the need to do something to shift the media focus.
