But how hard is it to clean the inevitable fur and hairball puke?

Exactly this.

I had the bed in OPs meme and it was great at first! My cats loved it, they zoomed through day and night. Then one day I noticed only one of the cats would enter at a time and only while I wasn't looking. Eventually I found out one of our cats was holding politically extreme meetings under the bed which eventually resulted in an attempted coup d'etat.

Anyways, great bed. My cats run my house now and I get to sleep under the bed in a cool maze!

how did you come up with this on the spot? Psychedelics? (Serious question)

[–] Lupus@feddit.org 22 points 5 days ago

Some people just have silly minds. I tirelessly endeavor to be more like them.

I was pooping and I had a free minute to practice comedy!

I'm 90% sure this is how the SCP Foundation was founded

After having pets for the last 30 years this was my first thought... oh great, another place for them to leave me "presents" (like poop, vomit, dead mice, etc)

[–] relianceschool@lemmy.world 33 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Seems like you'd just lift up the mattress like they did for this picture.

[–] errer@lemmy.world 57 points 6 days ago (3 children)

Lifting out a mattress to clean is a huge pain in the ass

Woah Woah

You do not need pets to vacuum out under your bed

[–] trxxruraxvr@lemmy.world 10 points 6 days ago

I don't need to lift my mattress to vacuum under the bed either

[–] CmdrShepard49@sh.itjust.works 10 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Of course you don't need pets for that. You just need a vacuum.

[–] harmbugler@piefed.social 1 points 5 days ago

And a will of steel

[–] dingus@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago

Why would I vacuum under my bed? That's where I shove items when I pretend like I'm cleaning the house.

[–] BeigeAgenda@lemmy.ca 5 points 6 days ago

I'm trying to teach them to hoover under the bed, but they refuse.

[–] burntbacon@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 5 days ago

I have a bed similar to this, and it just gets a little dusty. I don't think I've actually cleaned it in a decade, and at most there's just a very faint layer of dust (I just checked) in one or two spots. What are you doing that a mostly sealed area is getting dirty?

[–] cynar@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago

Some beds have storage underneath. They have a lift mechanism that lifts the whole mattress. If you used one of those as a base, then cleaning gets a lot easier.

[–] kbobabob@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Traditional mattresses need to be rotated/flipped anyway. Also, it's a good idea to clean under the bed occasionally.

[–] kofe@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Wait why do they need to be rotated???

[–] kbobabob@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 days ago

It helps them wear more evenly.

[–] retrolasered@feddit.uk 8 points 5 days ago

It sounds so easy when you say it

[–] Venator@lemmy.nz 2 points 5 days ago

just keep a bunch of cardboard boxes from deliveries under the bed instead, then you can just throw them away when they get dirty
