Most of them are just indoctrinated like all the other people. They simply believe in the system. So, so many people fall into that trap for a lot of reasons, but it makes sense when the alternative is a slow decline into madness because you can't not participate in this shit unless you are willing to make a lot of sacrifices. But first they'd have to confront that their own reality is bullshit, which is a monumental task and it only gets harder as you age and become more entrenched in the system

That's an understanding of normal people, but a journalist, someone who is supposed to actively seek out information, and would know when information is being suppressed, because they're the ones literally doing the suppressing, I don't know how it wouldn't cause massive cognitive dissonance or major issues. It's an open secret that if you don't want to lose your career in the industry, you just do what "the boss" tells you to, and I don't know how people could go from someone studying journalism at uni, wanting to make a difference, into a drone that doesn't just passively support the worst actions of capital, but actively pushes for them and either knowingly lies to the public about them or gets fired.
