My younger sister had this issue! (and would also sometimes eat it ๐คข). Did it until her first year of high school.
My mom borrowed a microscope for our schooling, and my little sister had the funny idea to put a booger on a slide to take a look.
We both looked and were absolutely horrified at what we saw that day. Never saw her pick her nose ever again.
Isn't leaving it in the nose even worse? ๐ฑ
Use a tissue, my dude.
I once read that humans pick by nature because the sinuses are a filter, and then the tonsils can sample that filter for germs to strengthen itself without getting fully sick.
I am not a nosepicking scientist tho so idk, take it with a grain of booger
