A portable car jumper. The one I got is called a Halo, and it's aptly named and works like a charm. No need to hope someone around me has jumper cables or will let me use their car to jump mine.

How often does your car go flat bro?

[–] OceanSoap@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I buy older cars in cash and drive them for years, so my current car, twice the battery died. Once was because I needed a new battery, and the second time was because my alternator was going out.

What's your hot tip for the most reliable vehicle?

Buy Japanese. Hondas and Toyotas last forever.

I used to drive a 30yr old converted fire engine as a camper /truck thing and let me tell you they don't like to get cold. Called ADAC (german AAA) four times in as many months before learning that these exist. From then on out come temps meant starting they motor from a power bank, not calling for help.

Forgive me, I sometimes forget that there are still places on earth that get cold. It's a completely foreign concept to my mind most of the time.
