This is a Dengist community in favor of Bashar al-Assad with no information that can lead to the arrest of Hillary Clinton, our fellow liberal and queen. This community is not ironic. We are Marxists-Leninists.

This community is for posts about Marxism and geopolitics (including shitposts to some extent). Serious posts can be posted here or in /c/GenZhou. Reactionary or ultra-leftist cringe posts belong in /c/shitreactionariessay or /c/shitultrassay respectively.

We have a Matrix homeserver and a Matrix space. See this thread for more information. If you believe the server may be down, check the status on status.elara.ws.

One of the members of the GenZedong Matrix space recently created a communist Akkoma instance at spectreofcommunism.boo!

What is Akkoma?

Akkoma is like Mastodon but lighter and faster. It's an open source microblogging platform where you can post "microposts". It's kind of similar to Twitter, but actually good :3

Like Lemmy, Akkoma is federated, meaning you can interact with people on other servers regardless of which server you've signed up on (similar to how you can see Hexbear users on Lemmygrad). Akkoma federates with all fediverse platforms, including Lemmy, so you can actually also interact with Akkoma users from Lemmygrad, and vice-versa!

How do I join?

  1. Go to https://spectreofcommunism.boo
  2. Click on Register
  3. Fill in your account info and then answer the vetting questions in the "Reason to register" field
  4. Wait for your account to be approved

What is Matrix?

Matrix ≈ Discord - tracking + end-to-end encryption (by default)

Matrix is a protocol for real-time communication (text, audio, and video) implemented by various applications ("clients") -- the official one is Element for Linux, macOS, Windows, Android, and iOS), but there are many others, e.g. those listed here. It's also federated, like Lemmy. To use a Matrix client, you need to make a Matrix account at one of the Matrix homeservers (similar to how you can make an account on lemmygrad.ml or lemmy.ml but still access both of them). We have our own Matrix homeserver at genzedong.xyz, and you don't need an email address to register an account there.

How do I join the space?

(If you already have a Matrix account, skip to step 3)

  1. Download a Matrix client (e.g. Element) on your device.
  2. Create an account in the client. You can select genzedong.xyz as your homeserver here; if you choose the default matrix.org, you'll need to enter an email address. If it doesn't work on your client, try using Element Web for registration.
  3. Log in.
  4. Read the rules in #rules:genzedong.xyz and the vetting questions in #vetting-questions:genzedong.xyz, and then answer the questions in #vetting-answers:genzedong.xyz (don't worry, it shouldn't take long).

What is the space?

A collection of rooms (equivalent to Discord channels) focused on various topics. The space is intended for Marxists-Leninists, although baby leftists may also be accepted depending on their vetting answers.

~~Primarily for those who don't already have a discussion group, but anyone interested in Marxist-Leninist theory is welcome 👍~~

~~It won't require intensive reading/listening; it should be doable for anyone who works or studies full time, and we usually have discussions at the end of every other week. We're currently following a study plan from China, but we can add recommended texts (decided by vote). At the time of writing we're reading "Wage Labour and Capital" but I'm not going to remember to update this post~~

~~You can join the group at #reading-group:genzedong.xyz (an encrypted room) through the GenZedong Matrix space (see this post). On /c/genzhou@lemmygrad.ml there'll also be a pinned post for the current text, for those who don't want to join the Matrix space.~~

the reading group is currently inactive; we will likely transition to a public reading group on Lemmygrad early next year

Full disclosure on Friday night my brother chill-left showed me this conversation and I believe it is worth sharing.

“Teia Rabishu” has been the top mod of antiwork since the massive scandal of a moderator appearing on Tucker Carlson who spoke about their part time job as a dogwalker. She appears not to understand the concept of the Overton window. Her defense of the decision to ban, “Platforms affiliated with the CCP, such as TikTok and Rednote, because China is a hostile foreign government and these platforms constitute information warfare.” despite the opposition of the moderators and users of the sub is suspicious, unethical, and totalitarian. In typical “dictator fashion”, her entire stance seems to be “china bad” and she constantly argues via logical fallacies. Not only this but, “Caledric” from the beginning of being a moderator for antiwork openly admits to working for US intelligence and expresses sympathy as well as agreement to their ideological framing and conclusions. “Teia” defends and supports “Caledric” as well as upholds the ideological anti-communism and red scare propaganda which led to this entire debacle.

This document and photos where leaked by u/chill-left before he was banned from the anti-work subreddit. He was a moderator dissenting within their internal communication discord. The supposed reason for his ban was calling for democratic elections to replace the head moderator of the antiwork subreddit. As well as disagreeing with “Teia Rabishu”.

Please share this with any interested individuals or parties, especially anyone associated with antiwork.

If the nazi salute and the daily dogwhistles on twitter weren't enough, Elon musk slams the desk declaring himself a proud nazi by denouncing multiculturalism.

The US sees the emergence of China and other Asian countries as a ‘fierce competition’. For the Global South, however, these developments bring new opportunities to pursue sovereign development.

I'm sure everyone's heard about Musk's salute by now but this counts as this week's essay so here you go. We go a bit into why the ADL defends him. I think it's interesting but I'm biased of course :)

With rednote being a thing, all the usual dronies of the 1.6 billion dollar army have come out to say "but muh ccp censorship"

To begin, this was a very sudden influx of users onto the site. No shit some of the censorship is heavy handed.

Secondly, Chinese censorship just seems bad because it's more honest. Yeah, you get banned for being a dipshit and you get banned for being a rightist and wrecker. (Being arrested or visited by the police is a rare occurrence at best and a fabrication at worse. Not to mention that JT was visited by and intimidated by the American Gestapo for his supposed free speech too) Over here you might not get banned for it, except in the cases where you do (see:reddot and africa stream for instance), but there's also ways they suppress views without banning people. Age restrictions, aforementioned intimidation, algorithmic suppression, etc. These are just unofficial forms of censorship that aren't as obvious as outright bans. This isn't even mentioning how free speech absolutism is really an American obsession. It's not a thing in Europe and other parts of the world.

There's also the "both sides badddd" argument to this (im looking at you piratesoftware), but again, look at the past 20-30 years. From the mmr scandal to lynchings to J6, etc. You're really going to sit here and be like "oh but slippery slop"

From the beginning of the article:

You’re reading the words of a formerly undocumented immigrant.

When I fled El Salvador four decades ago, I was 12 years old and alone. I wanted to escape the country’s civil war, where U.S.-backed death squads had made murders and rape our daily reality.

I reunited with my sisters, my only surviving family, in Wichita, Kansas. Once there, I helped open churches, started businesses, and raised three daughters. There were times I wasn’t sure we’d make it to the end of the month, but I was grateful for the sense of peace and security we could create here.

That’s why I’m so alarmed that the new Republican-led Congress has chosen to open with a bill, H.R. 29, that strikes fear in the hearts of immigrant families all across the country. This bill would strip judges of discretion and require immigrants to be detained and subject to deportation if they’re accused—not even convicted—of even minor offenses, like shoplifting.

This major assault on due process won’t keep anyone safer. It would terrorize all immigrants in this country, who studies show are much less likely to commit crimes of any kind than native-born Americans.

So, who benefits from H.R. 29? Private prison corporations like CoreCivic and GEO Group made a fortune during the last Trump administration by running private prisons for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

From the top:

UPDATE: On Jan. 17, the day after this article was originally published, Netanyahu indicated his security cabinet had approved the ceasefire deal and recommended that the full cabinet do the same. Threats of a rebellion by far-right ministers, however, continue to put the deal in peril, as was the case when this story first appeared.

Hrm.

I'll believe it when I fully see how this turns out...

Frankly, I can see Netanyahu ousted later on, even if the ceasefire does go through.

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.ml/post/24853237

Some foreigners say that our ideological reform is brainwashing. As I see it, they are correct in what they say. It is washing brains, that’s what it is! This brain of mine was washed to become what it is. After joining the revolution, it was slowly washed, washed for several decades.

What I received before was all bourgeois education, and even some feudal education.
