Hahaha, you're so off the mark. Maybe you should stick to the posters problem and stay out of my business? I'm not bitter at all, on the contrary, I'm 10 years into a loving relationship and marriage, and not married to a narcissistic, cheating non-human that damaged me and our children. We're doing our best to pick up from her lying and gas-lighting. It was meant to illustrate that those people closest to their children aren't necessarily the best to give advice.

As far as the money goes, it was illustrating that I continued to support him monitarily despite his repeated setbacks. Despite other challenges in coordination and cognitive abilities, we worked together and he earned his Eagle in the Boy Scouts. My father didn't show up for anything.

You're not recognizing that I continued to support him with time and money illustrates your inability to objectively examine an issue.

Good luck.

Same scenario with my son years back. He loved basketball and his skinny, 5ft 8" body was not going to propell him to NBA stardom. My wife accused me of crushing my son's spirits. I never discouraged him from the sport and went to every high school and travel ball ($$$) game where he mostly sat on the bench. He's in his 30s now and planning a family, so the dreams are different. I don't think I did any lasting damage.

But, would I do it the same way again? It's nuanced to be sure. We want our children to be prepared for their futures and excel, not wash out. What I would do is look for ways to help him discover, on his own, where his real talent lies and comes to the realization himself.l and be there to soften the blow to that dream. Then, if his passion is still football, help him discover all the different career options are available, on and off the field, that can keep him close to his passion.

I hope this helps. If you're asking, you're likely a better dad that many out there.

Oh, and his mother is a c#$t and I divorced her shitty ass. ;)

Finally got it working - followed the directions. No ports to open. Thanks for the recommendations.

Finally got it to work. I think that on a previous try and failure, my credentials were saved while I had gone back and recover everything over. Cleared out the old credentials, started all over and worked!

This is good to know the next time around. Thanks!

Sorry, just realized you meant Nest device support. Yes, per the instructions, and the Google Device page:

" Thermostats

All Google Nest thermostat models are supported in the Device Access program and the API functionality is the same for all models. See the Thermostat device guide for more information.

Supported as in a yellow or green device? No, I'm running virtually off a booted SSD on a PC.

Why is that relevant to my problem? Same software as everyone else and, otherwise, has been running reliably.

I've double-checked settings.

I can select the Google Nest Integration. I enter my Cloud Project ID and click Submit with no error. I am then prompted for my Device Access Project ID, which I enter and click submit. I am then presented with a screen from Google saying that it can't link to project. No other information and no error. Nothing in the home assistance core logs. I've double checked the settings and I know that Project ID is correct as it returns the project name that I set, "HA Nest Project".

Not really sure where to look for issues - any suggestions are appreciated.

Just upgraded to the latest update. Running: Core 2024.3.0 Supervisor 2024.02.1 Operating System 12.0 Frontend 20240306.0

Hi all,

Is Nabu Casa required for Nest Integration in HA?

I didn't see anything in the documentation up front noting it as a requirement. However, after a failed attempt at adding - along with a configuration requirement for home-assistant.io for authorized domain settings in OAuth Consent, I am having second thoughts.

Thanks!

Same here except all 4 are in a ceiling fan. To turn them all on and off at the same time, I've named them the Fan Four.

Pete is a lone, recessed light in the corner.

Two lamps with pineapple motifs are Bob and Liz. Two lamps in bedroom are Harold and Maude.

One floor lamp is Slim "Shady“.

Hi all, happy to see a strong HA presence on Lemmy!

To start off, I know enough to be dangerous but not enough to always get the desired or expected outcomes.

I have a downloaded HA install to a bootable USB with all updates. I have also installed a SONOFF Zigbee Dongle and ensured that auto updates are enabled. After installing the SONOFF, I was able to configure ZHA and then also add the Ikea Tradfri shortcut button. These are currently the only two Zigbee devices.

Device info for the button confirms the button is being depressed with Logbook entry "Button_LR1 Remote Button Short Press - Turn On event was fired" - so I don't think I have a configuration issue.

I was hoping to configure a Scene where I could control lighting and TV with the shortcut button. As a test, via a HA configuration, I have created a Scene and added a light (via Wyze integration - works independently fine) and the button as Devices. There are two entities listed, one for the button battery and one for button identify. As configured on HA, this scene works as expected. The light turns on. However, depressing the shortcut button does nothing.

What am I doing wrong?
