Carsharing? Yes. Personal cars with a subscription? Not really.

The primary point of the movement should be to stop animal suffering, not making other people feel bad.

While it's a necessity to make people aware of the cruelty of the animal industry and the harm it does to the planet, there are many ways to get there, and not all of them will work for everyone. The difficulty is in getting people to listen to you and being willing to self reflect their own behavior. Once they do, they will feel bad on their own.

There are more than 8 billion chickens slaughtered every year in the US alone, to give some perspective.

1024 bytes per KB

Technically, it's 1000 bytes per KB and 1024 bytes per KiB. Hard drive manufacturers are simply using a different unit.

pass has a similar spirit, where passwords are just GPG encrypted files with some CLI glue on top.

You could achieve the same with an encrypted .zip file and a bit of bash, even if it would probably be less ergonomic.

Veganism isn't so much a "dietary preference" as a way of life that recognizes animals as sentient beings and aims to minimize their suffering as much as possible (i.e. it's not only about not eating them).

That aside: In my experience, giving a shit about the well-being of others, regardless of race or species, isn't exactly common on the political right.
