They promise to punish the people republican voters don't like (poor people, minorities, and "elites"). And then they fulfill the first two.

If I’m right it was the population who fraught back their oppressive regime but I can’t remember exactly when or where

Nobody knows who the guy was, who the guys who brought him away were, or what he was yelling at the soldiers about.

In 1990, the CPC essentially said "We got the guy's name from some journalists, and the name isn't listed as dead or imprisoned so who knows if that's the real guy and what happened"

Well the first paragraph claims "Forced birth control and sterilization policies targeting Uyghurs in China’s far western Xinjiang Province were intended to reduce the group’s population", which is proven false by the increase in population and life expectancy.

There was no genocide.

There were mass detentions where people would be picked up for minor crimes and sent for job training, according to Wapo, at least some of them were closed/repurposed before 2022, presumably in 2020.

There is plenty of room to criticize sending someone for 6+ months of trade school because they didn't have a job and got caught doing some incredibly minor crime and analyze what China has done in the past and why they did this, but libs can't have that conversation when they're invested in a crazy conspiracy theory.

I didn't say every single Muslim majority country, because countries like Jordan are perfectly happy supporting genocides.

Fuck off with this bad faith bullshit.

I literally linked a map from a 2019 UN joint resolution, showing mostly Muslim-majority countries, including Jordan, that agree that there is no genocide in China.

Both Qatar and Jordan are American puppets, evidenced most recently by Jordan helping Israel carry out its genocide by shooting down Iranian drones.

I mean so are several other countries on that map, it's egregious enough that Saudi Arabia broke with America on this.

You’re saying it’s wrong, except when china does it

Stop misrepresenting what I'm saying. For the third time:

I am saying there is no genocide in China, because if there was, other Muslim countries would respond.

FEMA camps (lemmy.ml)
submitted 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) by alcoholicorn@lemmy.ml to c/showerthoughts@lemmy.world

Back during the Bush and Obama years, I remember hearing so many right-wing conspiracies about FEMA camps.

Why didn't anyone ask "If FEMA has the ability to set up camps and transport large numbers of people, why aren't they doing that every time there's a big hurricane or wildfire?"

Looks like it's having a measurable effect.

The bill in question is the one Biden tried to pass, but was blocked by republicans after Trump called it a bad bill, despite containing only things the republicans want.

It would enable the president to shut down the border and gives billions to ICE, CPB, US Marshals, etc to increase detention capacity, train additional personnel, etc. It also gave billions to Israel and Ukraine.

Kamala gonna have the immigrant vote locked up.
