"Law Enforcement" in the US doesn't things they're not authorized to do all the time and rarely face consequences. That fuck who murdered George Floyd was SHOCKED when he got arrested for it.
The idea is that they're not put in a position to play favorites or make enemies with their neighbors.

You say that like there was a serious risk of nuclear war. But the issue wasn't Ukraine, it was the rules based internation order that the US set up and benefitted from (despite also frequently breaking the rules)
