I think Microsoft can be thanked for that. They buckled down and lent their support to make sure Starfield didn't have constant crashes and backwards flying spaceships and whatnot.

Thanks for the recommendations! I'll look into these, and already have dipped my feet into stuff like Everspace 2 and Outer Wilds. Some of these are on Xbox Game Pass as well, which is cool.

Thanks for sharing that, even despite the uncontrollable facepalm that resulted. What's terrible is that despite the fact that this artist is so crazy and racist, his art is actually pretty good.

Maybe for now, but as soon as more people switch to Windows 11 or Microsoft apps that constantly show you ads and are basically spam / adware themselves, Linux will get more appealing.

Microsoft is unfortunately learning from social media companies. Not only do you PAY for the product, you are also the product, and get your personal info stolen and get served ads even while you pay.

It's getting to the point where I'm seriously eyeballing Mint again, or Kubuntu. And I'm the kind of person that's generally too lazy to even dual boot anymore.

Honestly, probably the only way to save the Environment and Democracy. Too much power in the hands of the few leads to perpetual effective monarchy. It's why the Founding Fathers were against large amounts of inherited wealth, particularly inherited wealth that creates dynasties in perpetuity.

I know people don't like the Founding Fathers that much lately, and I see why, but conservatives really don't understand them, and deliberately misrepresent them, because not doing so would undercut all conservative "policies".

World's a mess because of inequality and the concentration of almost all wealth and power into the hands of a small amount of sociopaths. I honestly think the only way to solve this permanently is to cap the amount of wealth and power any individual or family can have.

Same. I stay away from #Explore and just keep to my feed of people I actually follow. And I make sure to unfollow those who are too stressful to hear from constantly.

I agree with almost all the of all politics all the time people who constantly post negative things, but it's too tiring to read them, especially since knowing about it does me no good and I can't do anything about it anyway. I already vote and donate as much as I can, and I live in a Blue state so anything outside of my area's just not possible for me to influence.

I've found it's better just to ignore it and focus on positive things that make my life better.

This is also why I stopped going to Mastodon. In addition to negative ragebait politics being almost the only thing that's trending (and I have too much of that in my life already) there's no real nuance or tolerance for anything outside the echo chamber.

You DO get called a racist nazi transphobe for stepping outside the box or trying to support people, ideas or places that might not be 100% perfect or pass the strictest ideological purity test. I thought Liberal Twitter was pretty exclusionary and echo-chamber-y, but Mastodon's a lot worse.

[–] CIWS-30@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

It's true. It's why I feel that Mastodon will never replace Twitter. It's too much of a left wing circlejerk / bubble, and they're actively hostile to even moderate viewpoints. much less actually conservative ones.

I'm probably in the minority in this, but I believe that even people I don't agree with should have a platform and be tolerated as long as they're reasonable and willing to compromise and show respect, as long as they're not racist nazi nutjobs.

The world isn't exclusively made up of one set of ideas, and you shouldn't shut out 75% of all viewpoints just because they don't agree with yours, imo.

I don't see how this works in the long run, if they have to put paid corporate drones in charge of moderation. Wasn't the entire point of Reddit that they don't have to pay moderators?

This kind of strategy is lose / lose. If spez want an IPO, well this kind of crap is tanking that IPO.

Au contraire, I think more rich people should take risks like this. It shows how macho and ahead of the curve and disruptive they are. All those other rich people that aren't willing to get into an experimental vehicle with risk of catastrophic failure and even death are just crybaby namby pamby cucks who aren't living their best lives!

Just ~~buy~~ ride it! If you were on your deathbead, and you looked back, wouldn't you regret not having tried it while you still could've?

Same strategy as Hitler, staged actors faking an attack as a reason to "counterattack". Not surprising. Russians are the real Nazis.

TLDR: He doesn't forgive anyone who sins, he forgives those who repent. Repent not meaning "feeling sorry" as many seem to explain, but actually meaning "to turn away" which means changing fundamentally as a human being. From a bad person to a good person.

Someone who doesn't change and act good most of the time isn't repentant, so isn't forgiven. So basically, you prove it with your actions and how you live your life, not with just words only. By this measurement, Republican "Christians" aren't repentant and so aren't forgiven.

Not a Christian anymore, but I used to be for a very long time. Sidebar: "You will know a tree by it's fruit" AKA you'll know what kind of person someone is by what they do. Anyone who's even skimmed the bible (especially the new testament) would easily understand that most conservative "christians" aren't Christian at all, but rather like the Pharisees (phony religious types) that Jesus constantly argued with and condemned.

Other note: Sikhs actually live the way Christian claim to. I could easily make a "hard to swallow pill" meme which said: "Sikhs are better Christians than actual Christians are."
