Its a little harder to when the voter is aware of a moral conflict regarding their vote, regardless of your percieved political intentions of theirs. Are you doubting a significant amount of voters abstained? Because theres gotta be some reason trump had basically the same turnout while dems lost significantly.

It's not popular to say "I like hierarchy and I want to be on top". Many supporters of hierarchy claim they love "individual rights" when they really want privileges for themselves. That's the reason why some people love the "Bill of Rights" but hate equality.
