Yes, this is a real photo I found from a North Korean propaganda website. Not sure what this is supposed to be honestly, other than a photo-op.

Liminal spaces are the subject of an Internet aesthetic portraying empty or abandoned places that appear eerie, forlorn, and often surreal. Liminal spaces are commonly places of transition (pertaining to the concept of liminality) or of nostalgic appeal.

Looks like a hot spring or bath house, but half the stools have their product sticker left on, that never appears to have gotten wet.
These bath houses are the best. I go every now and then here in Japan.
This is most likely a communal bath common in many asian countries. I agree on the photo op though, this looks too meticulous. And they forgot to take of the stickers of those little stools, that makes it seems even less used.
This is E. Honda's stage from Street Fighter II.
Nothing says North Korean prosperity like an unused 1975 bathhouse in 2025.
I’m sorry, am I misinterpreting this like crazy or are you supposed to shit in those larger, paler bowls? Because they don’t look big or stable enough to sit on, and I’m not sure if my instincts are way off or not.
You fill them with water to rinse yourself when washing
Lmao, don’t invite me to public bath houses. I thought the stools were there for… stool.
You fill those with water to pour on your head. It's super nice and allows you to have different temperature water for your hair than the rest of your body.
