I’m sorry, am I misinterpreting this like crazy or are you supposed to shit in those larger, paler bowls? Because they don’t look big or stable enough to sit on, and I’m not sure if my instincts are way off or not.

You fill those with water to pour on your head. It's super nice and allows you to have different temperature water for your hair than the rest of your body.
