One is a group of despicable masked bandits who instill fear, destroy livelihoods, and operate outside the confines of the legal system

The other group are criminals

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 1 points 38 minutes ago

Can we go backing to my ancestors banditry where you mug Mormons and rob trains?

[–] LordCrom@lemmy.world 4 points 1 hour ago

How about, like every other law enforcement agency, you can demand name and badge number, and ICE must reply. If they dont, they are not law enforcement, just masked criminals.

I mean.... bare minimum at fucking least.

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 7 points 2 hours ago

All ICE agents are criminals. They know this, which is why they always refuse to identify themselves.

In my state we have the right to defend our property and that includes vehicles. So, let them try to fuck with me or my wife and see what happens. We’re homos and armed to the teeth.

[–] drhodl@lemmy.world 30 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

This just tells me that the "real" ICE agents, are doing criminal stuff and the FBI are just getting in front of that. What did they think would happen when you give the otherwise unemployable a badge and a gun, and empower them?

[–] SethTaylor@lemmy.world 6 points 5 hours ago

I didn't think this before I read your comment but now I do. 😐

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 32 points 6 hours ago (3 children)

So we're allowed to shoot them in self defense now if they don't ID?

[–] SlothMama@lemmy.world 9 points 1 hour ago

The fact that this isn't an every day occurrence confuses the shit out of me.

[–] Jaysyn@lemmy.world 19 points 5 hours ago

Yes, and I am shocked this hasn't already happened.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 6 points 6 hours ago

Or if they do.

[–] IndridCold@lemmy.ca 37 points 7 hours ago (5 children)

I always thought protesters should wear jeans or tan tactical pants, boots, vest and plate ($35-50 from Amazon), a tacticool utility belt ($20-30 from amazon), helmet ($30 from amazon) a black Balaclava Ski Mask ($6), with sunglasses. On the right chest have a random ID number like "A462". Slap an American flag patch (or a Police gang patch with the blue line).

You could even throw in a functional gas mask for $50

These ICE creeps don't have a proper issued uniform. They bought their shit off amazon as well. I saw one dude who looked like he was wearing airsoft/paintball stuff.

Can you imagine the confusion if everyone dressed in tacticool? Those untrained ICE idiots would be completely lost.

The JR "Bob" Dobbs mantra - "If you act like a dumb shit, they'll treat you like an equal".

[–] buddascrayon@lemmy.world 5 points 5 hours ago (3 children)

Wow, I have not seen a church of the sub genius reference in almost 20 years.

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Does listening to 40oz count?

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 5 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

Wow, I have not seen a church of the sub genius reference in almost 20 years.

Well, that's probably just part of the Pink Conspiracy. They've been stealing your slack.

They just had a cool doc about them come out not that long ago. Sadly, the podcast/Hour of Slack has come to an end:

https://archive.org/details/hourofslack

The Hour of Slack was produced weekly since 1985 by REV. IVAN STANG (PO Box 807, Glen Rose, Texas, 76043, USA) -- more years than Johnny Carson or David Letterman were on the air. The show was discontinued in June, 2022; host Rev. Stang simply got burned out after 37 years of weekly shows. His hearing loss wasn't helping either.

[–] 1985MustangCobra@lemmy.ca 3 points 5 hours ago

there was a analog horror/ARG on youtube that used some of their stuff i think its been a few years now.

[–] 1985MustangCobra@lemmy.ca 3 points 5 hours ago

cult of bob

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 9 points 6 hours ago

Yup.

It would be VERY easy to infiltrate them while they're out in the field. Just surround them with people looking just like them. They'd have no option but to retreat.

[–] Blumpkinhead@lemmy.world 4 points 6 hours ago

I would, but with my luck that would be the day everyone decides enough is enough and they start beating the dogshit out of every ice agent lol

[–] SethTaylor@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago) (1 children)

And do this on Halloween so they can't arrest you for impersonating an officer either! #lifeHacks

Sorry 🤭

EDIT: Oh, wait... no, wait a minute... does the fact that they don't have an officially issued uniform really mean that technically you could argue in court that you were not impersonating an officer? That. Is. Wildly stupid of them if true.

[–] IndridCold@lemmy.ca 4 points 3 hours ago

As long as you had nothing on your "uniform" that said Police or had a badge of any sort, they would be hard pressed to charge you with anything. If they nabbed you, and you weren't black bagged to a blackzone and disappeared, you could always say you arrived to protest wearing a helmet, plate carrier, gas mask because of the documented law enforcement violence towards citizens. The pouches and utility belt could contain things like first aid supplies.

[–] Jaysyn@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago

I love this idea.

[–] SpankyDoodle@eviltoast.org 8 points 6 hours ago

How about, no face masks, official uniforms with name and rank listed. They need to be spelled out who they are if they’re kidnapping people and freaking out citizens. They won’t because they know they are in danger of being exposed and isolated by friends/family or denied future employment for doing this BS (just my guess)

[–] Sarcasmo220@lemmy.ml 4 points 5 hours ago

That's the first danger I thought of with masked plainclothes (secret) police who don't identify themselves. Human traffickers can put on the same getup and kidnap someone in broad daylight and people would assume they are law enforcement.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 22 points 8 hours ago

Wow, what a great idea.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 17 points 8 hours ago (8 children)

Well, that's all very cool.

How about ICE stop wearing those goddamned masks so they can be identified?

[–] SethTaylor@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago

ICE agent takes his mask of

Me: Who the fuck is this guy?

Some of them are probably real ICE.

[–] theparadox@lemmy.world 24 points 9 hours ago

Plausible deniability.

Reports of a masked ICE Agent murdering an individual filming an ICE raid, then fleeing the scene. "That wasn't an actual ICE agent. Don't worry, it's... 'under investigation' and we'll never release any information about the incident ever again."

hah they're not going to ID themselves. these cowards can't even do their "jobs" without covering their faces because they're so scared.

[–] hovercat@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 6 hours ago

Well, they're scared, but also the admin doesn't want the identities to be revealed and shown that like 90% of ICE was probably recruited straight from known neo-nazi/white nationalist groups like the Proud Boys

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 25 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (2 children)

At this rate someone's going to feel legally justified to defend themselves and others with lethal force from potential criminals.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 8 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Put me on a jury, and I will let people who crush ICE go free.

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 10 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

If so, you should never post about it online. That's the kind of thing that jury selection software is meant to find

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 1 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Honestly, the jury selection process is stupid. It depends on people to either live under a rock, or to lie about their character. Our jurors should be informed on the world and have opinions. Fairness achieved through witless conformity is justice by committee.

If we want better trials, getting rid of one-sided testimonials like the grand jury process, would be a much better way. It is weird how prosecutors get to put forward only their viewpoint, while the defense can't. Randomly splitting the jury in half to listen to the defense and prosecution's argument, then having each half hear the other side's story, would be a better approach IMO. That removes the first-mover advantage to story telling. Also, a 20 minute snack and drink break for each session, to remove grouchiness as a factor.

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 3 points 3 hours ago

Our entire legal system doesn't make sense, that's not even in the top 5 gaping problems in the justice process

[–] notarobot@lemmy.zip 4 points 8 hours ago

That is the problem. If they kill a criminal it will be considered self defense. If they kill an agent, it will not

Also, if they are ice and they use lethal force, ice will use lethal force too and argue it was self defense
