Building a literal god-machine golden bull to worship but it's a fucking tickle-me-jesus bot

[–] Keld@hexbear.net 13 points 4 days ago

The golden calf but the gold part is in the conductors in the data centers.

[–] kristina@hexbear.net 9 points 4 days ago

"Let's build The Beast so that Jesus will return"

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 22 points 4 days ago (2 children)

It’s going to be hilarious when this thing inevitably throws out an answer based on all the parts of the Bible that talk about delivering wealth to the poor and some chud accuses it of being a secret communist plot.

[–] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 9 points 4 days ago

hey grokkk, how do i crucify my blaspheming ai?

[–] darkcalling@hexbear.net 7 points 3 days ago

Brave of you to think they won't train it on the bible AND THEN centuries of theology and apologetics done in the context of systems of feudal monarchy (king is good, monarchy is right) and then capitalism (market is right and actually hand of god in action) plus probably a few Evangelical school courses.

I mean these are the people who have turned indoctrinating kids into a science. James Dobson (hell isn't real but if it was he'd deserve to burn in it for a few billion years) was a psychologist who applied the scientific methods of late 20th century to figuring out how to best break and successfully indoctrinate kids into Evangelical Christianity and published a number of books filled with homophobia, patriarchy, misogyny, and general twisted insinuations for how men and women should be. And he was hardly the first. There are others who came before him who applied psychology to teaching pastors how to whip up and control a congregation, teaching missionaries how to put vulnerable people in the right headspace to fill their heads with their lies, etc, etc, etc. No, no. Christianity has an incredibly rich amount of written text that dwarfs the textual length of the bible itself on things like this to turn such an AI into a gas-lighting, manipulative, twisted chatbot. If given the chance they'll make such a chat-bot and put it up as a suicide help-line or mental health type thing to try and convert people.

Oh boy I'm sure nothing bad will come from this!

Wasn't this the temple os guy's gig?

[–] invalidusernamelol@hexbear.net 20 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

No, he didn't want to build AI Jesus. He wanted to build the perfect operating system based on plans he received from God.

More like a tech Noah

[–] ClathrateG@hexbear.net 5 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

its one of the games on it https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/dcbbvm/moses_game_on_terry_davis_templeos/

the flight simulator is more impressive https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYQEfLaR4Pg

This screenshot is more representative of what the OS looks like outside of games

terry would have programed you detect multiple links and post the alts in one comment instead of two

I wonder if anyone has ever had to pay royalties...

[–] BeanisBrain@hexbear.net 15 points 4 days ago

At least Temple OS guy had actual technical skills.

[–] fox@hexbear.net 4 points 4 days ago

He was trying to build the Third Temple to bring the eschaton.

shinji-froggy-chair I can't believe I'm quoting William F. Buckley, but yeah, "Don't immanentize the eschaton!"

Bleh, and now for a palette cleanser: Bill Hicks on Jesus' return

Ryan Siebert, an AI product developer and hackathon attender, said he was able to get Gloo’s newest LLM, which has not yet been publicly launched, to provide him a recipe for methamphetamine through a prompt injection

I welcome AI meth Christ buddy-christ

[–] userofnames@hexbear.net 8 points 4 days ago

the meth odist church

[–] SwitchyandWitchy@hexbear.net 10 points 4 days ago

I'm guessing it's Pat Gelsinger? I believe he was part of some christo-nationalist nonesense. It's 404 now so I can't check unless someone has an archive.

[–] SacredExcrement@hexbear.net 8 points 4 days ago

Just wanted to say 2 things

  1. Of course it's Gelsinger, the guy who helped put intel in the dirt
  2. I couldn't open the article so I went to search for it and one of the top results was a reddit thread about it on r/betteroffline, with the top comment being "Not to get all Muslim about this but it feels like recreating the savior in this way would be like blasphemy. I don’t care either way, blasphemy is rad, I’m just saying."
[–] adultswim_antifa@hexbear.net 7 points 4 days ago

For some reason I felt like this was inevitable. LLMs will let these bourgeois dipshits present their worldview as if it is God's own. Same thing they did to the church.

[–] Keld@hexbear.net 8 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I get a 404 when I click so I'll just assume I'm being messed with and that isn't real.

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)
[–] Keld@hexbear.net 4 points 4 days ago

If I don't click it it can't hurt me

[–] Beaver@hexbear.net 4 points 4 days ago

We might need to bring back blasphemy laws

[–] Rom@hexbear.net 3 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Where in the bible does it talk about AI Jesus?

[–] ghosts@hexbear.net 3 points 4 days ago

Roko's Basilisk detractors been real quiet since this dropped

[–] infuziSporg@hexbear.net 1 points 3 days ago

It's only been 18 months since this happened, time to give AI Christian authority another shot.
