This is building consent for a US war on Venezuela.

Nobel war prize more like, considering the people they award this to.

Further proof that the NPP is bullshit. Like the one they gave to Obama.

...our task: conquer Freedom

That phrasing sounds like they're against freedom.

[–] porksnort@slrpnk.net 7 points 1 day ago

They are! Freedom needs a good conquerin’ now and then

Machado is anti-chavismo and has disagreed with other sections of the Venezuelan opposition.[102][103][104] In 2011, she campaigned as a promotor of "popular capitalism".[104] Machado supports the privatization of state-run entities in Venezuela, including oil company PDVSA.[70][103]

That's the only reason she won. Americans want their oil

The USA does not determine who wins the Nobel prizes.

Maria clearly doesn't understand how authoritarians work. They can never be placated or satisfied. There are no small victories to give them to keep them happy. The more you give them, the more that they demand.

Isn't that the reason she's trying to reestablish democracy in Venezuela, to get rid of an authoritarian leader she knows can't be satisfied?

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 25 points 1 day ago (6 children)

A fake democracy where she will let the usa define the policies and profiting from venezuela oil

Perhaps she's not interested in democracy beyond using it as a vehicle to get herself in the driver's seat.

Imagine appealing to one dictator, in the hopes that they can help you get rid of another? It doesn't get much stupider than this. I guess that Nobel Prize doesn't apply to regime change requests?

Nothing says Peace Prize like Conquering Freedom in dedication to Donald Trump.

I was wondering if the Conquering Freedom bit was a poor translation earlier, guess we have an answer.

To be honest, I wish there would be a Nobel prize of war.

What would it take for us to make one? Fend off an alien invasion?
