Mictecacihuatl, Lady of the Dead, is the link between the living and the deceased. She holds our teyollia, the spirit of our personality and our creativity, and purifies it so it can return to the Earth in the shape of a new being. Also called Mictlancihuatl, she is the ruler of the land of the dead. She is honored on Dia de Muertos, and is a manifestation of La Santa Muerte. A work of nahua (or Aztec) tradition.

Mictecacihuatl is the female deity associated with death in many of Mexico's indigenous cultures. In addition to welcoming us into the afterlife, she is the protector of some and the source of countless legends related to the underworld. Learn about her history, her powers, and the fate of those who encounter the powerful lady of Mictlán.

Known as the lady of the dead, the lady who cuts the umbilical cord, or simply the lady of death, Mictecacihuatl is the goddess who rules the other world and to whom some will have to answer sooner or later.

Together with her husband, the lord of death Mictlantecuhtli, Mictecacihuatl welcomes souls who died naturally to Mictlán, to watch over their bones and watch over their sleep for all eternity.

Furthermore, her power extends throughout the land of the dead and even into the world of the living, as she is capable of sending blessings, curses, and messages from her dimension in the afterlife. Of the two rulers of the underworld, Mictecacihuatl seems to be the more flexible of the two deities, as she is the one who gives the deceased permission to return from Mictlán, a gesture that does not go unnoticed on the earthly plane, as the celebration of the dead in pre-Hispanic cultures was an honor to this goddess.

‘Genocide denial’ is one of the typical excuses for defederating from Lemmygrad.ml, and the irony is that this topic would have reached a much wider audience if only so many instances had never agreed to defederate from us.

Is there any kind of RSS reader for Instagram? I use flufi.me to anonymously view posts, but there are so many orgs that primarily use Instagram to inform the public of events and I'm not interested in making one. It'd be nice if I could get a feed from multiple accounts to be able to just add stuff to my local calendar.

Bibliogram used to have that, but the main instance disabled it (it was too costly, and they hit the rate limit too often), but the whole project shut down.

i know i'm getting old because the best part of my day is when i go for a run at like 6am and have coffee after, it's all downhill from here yea

[–] hello_hello@hexbear.net 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Honestly I want to get into early morning jogs because midday jogs suck so much, especially after the sun goes down.

It'd probably help with my lack of appetite in the morning (which I got from the shitty elite high school I went to).

[–] segfault11@hexbear.net 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

aside from the practical benefits (cooler weather, more energy), one thing i like about jogging early is that there's nobody out there, so i don't feel as self conscious

[–] Abracadaniel@hexbear.net 3 points 2 days ago

probably less accumulated car pollution in the air too.

an upside to using a VPN to download podcasts is if there are targeted ads, I can now force them to be in a language I don't understand.

Watching House MD makes me want to be really really good at something the way House and his team are. I've never really been ambitious otherwise but I think it would be really cool to be really good at something. I don't even know what

It makes me want to be a junkie asshole, only half of that is currently true

Well, Samsung removed color-coding in their reminders widget in the latest update so I may as well just figure out how to set up synchronized reminders across devices using FOSS apps.

Been reading Dark Money by Jane Mayer, while it's kinda lib going into the Koch brothers childhood and weird Nazi nanny it is pretty good about following the trail on how their influence network was built up. Been meaning to read this for a while so yeah yay for me

[–] ClathrateG@hexbear.net 6 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Sick! I need to get off my ass with the reading I've had Surveillance Capital laying around for almost a year

Damn sensory overload addiction, these days I only really read pdfs/epubs on my laptop while blasting music/podcasts, hard to switch off and just sit with a physical book

There's was a dark period in my life a few years ago when I was out of work and my substance abuse had ramped up a lot, but one sliver living was I had no Internet at home(libary was my only access) so I'd consistently read like 400 pages a day going through multiple books a week and was able to finish everything in collection

sorry for the life story lol

[–] Wmill@hexbear.net 4 points 2 days ago

Life story appreciated, I'll keep my eyes on surveillance capitalism next, I been out of my house and limiting my phone data and I do have a couple of PDFs on a Kindle but that has a limited battery so been getting physical books from the library. I also bring with me some back up books of my own like mark twain short stories, I dream of thr day of finishing everything I have at home

Why is it called numerology and not numberology. It deals with numbers not numers smdh head

[–] spudnik@hexbear.net 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's all crankery anyway, the real discipline to study is numeronomy

[–] KuroXppi@hexbear.net 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's where Bilbo went at the end of lotr right?

[–] Bartsbigbugbag@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They’re called numerals aren’t they?

[–] KuroXppi@hexbear.net 3 points 2 days ago

Numeralogy? No that doesn't sound right either

It's important to remember that you can't make a sandwich out of just the sauce

[–] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 6 points 2 days ago

parfait is a sauce sandwich

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's what peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are though, saucewiches

[–] GeckoChamber@hexbear.net 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I just tried to advise someone on Reddit against an unsafe course of action using the phrase, "That would kill you." My comment was rejected for "violating Reddit TOS"

I love corporate censorship!!! agony-shivering

I heard Nazis tend to hide they're Nazis while communists tend to be open about being communists. Why night those two things be?

So that interview went pretty well, and the other place that dropped the ball responded to my follow up about the pause being unlikely to change soon. Sucks, but at least I have closure on it.

In the meantime, if I’m not in college, what are some good ways to do ‘career exploratory’ stuff?

[–] Coolkidbozzy@hexbear.net 9 points 2 days ago

if I were the government I would simply keep funding myself tbh
