Mictecacihuatl, Lady of the Dead, is the link between the living and the deceased. She holds our teyollia, the spirit of our personality and our creativity, and purifies it so it can return to the Earth in the shape of a new being. Also called Mictlancihuatl, she is the ruler of the land of the dead. She is honored on Dia de Muertos, and is a manifestation of La Santa Muerte. A work of nahua (or Aztec) tradition.

Mictecacihuatl is the female deity associated with death in many of Mexico's indigenous cultures. In addition to welcoming us into the afterlife, she is the protector of some and the source of countless legends related to the underworld. Learn about her history, her powers, and the fate of those who encounter the powerful lady of Mictlán.

Known as the lady of the dead, the lady who cuts the umbilical cord, or simply the lady of death, Mictecacihuatl is the goddess who rules the other world and to whom some will have to answer sooner or later.

Together with her husband, the lord of death Mictlantecuhtli, Mictecacihuatl welcomes souls who died naturally to Mictlán, to watch over their bones and watch over their sleep for all eternity.

Furthermore, her power extends throughout the land of the dead and even into the world of the living, as she is capable of sending blessings, curses, and messages from her dimension in the afterlife. Of the two rulers of the underworld, Mictecacihuatl seems to be the more flexible of the two deities, as she is the one who gives the deceased permission to return from Mictlán, a gesture that does not go unnoticed on the earthly plane, as the celebration of the dead in pre-Hispanic cultures was an honor to this goddess.

I haven't thought about it in a while. The megsthread made me think if an old comic I can't remember the name of. It had French kinda comic art but it was set in mesoamerica if they had beat back the colonizers. Does anyone remember anything like that? Maybe it was Italian. It was kinda sci-fantasy

looking up books on kindle is so funny bc half the time if its like a textbook they'll email you a week later like "hey this book we know you really, really liked (looked up once) but was twenty bucks is on sale now for 2 pennies and an apple seed"

I am inexplicably unsettled by a show or commercial that breaks the 4th wall and makes it look like the streaming UI is getting fucked with. I remember when I was a kid there was an PBS funding commercial that made it look like the TV was shut off for a few seconds and it scared me so much I would actually turn the TV off when it came on.

Probably don't play Eternal Darkness, then!

I guess it is pretty eerie. Based on your normal experience of the world, it would mean that there's literally someone in your house. And if not that, then it would mean that people can reach INTO your house from far away and mess with your stuff.

I just looked into it and yeah, that definitely looks like it would tap into that phobia. I used to have nightmares about my N64 glitching out. Maybe if I feel like getting spooked this Halloween I'll check it out.

Part of decolonizing your brain is understanding you are with and of the land and thus you are with and of the environment that you share the land with.

I just made a comment in a different thread and think I have a thought that makes sense.

I would wager that a vast majority of people who think chatgpt and LLMs are amazing super tech have never even heard of Wolfram Alpha.

That shit could take my dumb-as-all-fuck interpretation of a math question and interpret what I could possibly mean and show me step by step the answer. No it doesnt understand natural language as well but who cares

No amount of erotic fanfic about bible characters or whatever could impress me after using wolframalpha

I love passwordless logins. I love being forced to open up my email for a temporary 6 digit code, waiting a minute - nothing shows up - clicking resend code, only for it to finally appear, copying and pasting it in my browser, invalid code. Why? because fuck you, that's why. You already requested a new one! Did you really think the old code would work? You have to wait another minute for your email to receive the new one. ahahahha wow thats so much more convenient than having to remember my password! hehehheheh... aaaaaah aaahhhHAHAHAHHA aaaaahahahhaahahahahah hHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAAAAAAAAAAAA $^%&^#$*#&$&@#^AAAAAAAAAHAHHAHAHHA

I DONT EVEN HAVE THE OPTION TO USE MY PASSWORD ANYMORE, YOU GOT RID OF IT! YOU GOT RID OF MY FUCKING PASSWORD

I had a dream the other night where I was in my house (not actually where I live, but my "house" for the dream's narrative purpose) and I happened to discover a whole new room I didn't know existed. It was set up exactly like a restaurant - multiple booths and tables, all with matching tablecloths and dinnerware, an overall fancy restaurant vibe. But it wasn't an actual restaurant, just a room set up to look like one. Since then I've been thinking a lot about it. Now if I win the lottery, I will build a modest house but it has to have a "restaurant room" in it.

I had my first ever recurring dream the other day, and it was about zombies on a cruise ship. Not bad as far as stories go, at the end i discover it's some sort of class metaphor but I can't remember what the metaphor is.

The world's largest Hindu temple is in Cambodia (It's Angkor Wat). The second largest is in New Jersey. Or in other words, the largest Hindu temple that serves prinarily as a Hindu temple is in New Jersey.
This isn't useful knowledge, but I just found out.
