Mictecacihuatl, Lady of the Dead, is the link between the living and the deceased. She holds our teyollia, the spirit of our personality and our creativity, and purifies it so it can return to the Earth in the shape of a new being. Also called Mictlancihuatl, she is the ruler of the land of the dead. She is honored on Dia de Muertos, and is a manifestation of La Santa Muerte. A work of nahua (or Aztec) tradition.

Mictecacihuatl is the female deity associated with death in many of Mexico's indigenous cultures. In addition to welcoming us into the afterlife, she is the protector of some and the source of countless legends related to the underworld. Learn about her history, her powers, and the fate of those who encounter the powerful lady of Mictlán.

Known as the lady of the dead, the lady who cuts the umbilical cord, or simply the lady of death, Mictecacihuatl is the goddess who rules the other world and to whom some will have to answer sooner or later.

Together with her husband, the lord of death Mictlantecuhtli, Mictecacihuatl welcomes souls who died naturally to Mictlán, to watch over their bones and watch over their sleep for all eternity.

Furthermore, her power extends throughout the land of the dead and even into the world of the living, as she is capable of sending blessings, curses, and messages from her dimension in the afterlife. Of the two rulers of the underworld, Mictecacihuatl seems to be the more flexible of the two deities, as she is the one who gives the deceased permission to return from Mictlán, a gesture that does not go unnoticed on the earthly plane, as the celebration of the dead in pre-Hispanic cultures was an honor to this goddess.

All of my dotfiles management is now handled by Guix. It's home services are pretty neat.

[–] hello_hello@hexbear.net 4 points 15 hours ago

Ooo tell me all about it, I also want to get into the Guix game and not put all my eggs in the NixOS basket.

It absolutely sucks how I've been succumbing to doomerism by following the news and how everything has been getting worse and now the american government is shut down. all the while a bubble has been getting progressively worse by the day as money reinvests itself from things that are good into something that make a terrible version of Sega Arcade Cabinet Shooter cutscenes and answers all your questions wrong.

I AM NOT UNREASONABLE, MY JOB RELIES ON GOVERNMENT INFRASTRUCTURE CONTRACTS, I HAVE TO KEEP AN EYE ON THESE THINGS youre-awful

[–] Grownbravy@hexbear.net 5 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

i feel like the bug in a village by a creek yelling at everyone that tough times are ahead just because i figured that you can follow the creek back up and see a bunch of giants were dropping bricks into the river and clogging up the creek further down, and everyone is telling me to be quiet because the creek still has water.

it's the fucking Platos cave allegory again

You know they say 'the best thing since sliced bread' it's crazy how some porky-happy hasn't come up with pre-sliced cook at home pizza(probably does exist but I've never seen it)

spoilerPatent pending so keep your hands off of my stack jack blob-stabby

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 2 points 14 hours ago

This can be super easily done. Either have it on a pan made of something that heats up super fast so the bottom cooks well but you don't need to move the pizza, have it in the instructions to only put it on a pre-heated pan or dont cut it all the way through so when its cooked the pieces snap off.

Normalize calling sauceless white actors diversity hires - overwhelmingly hired just because they wanted a white guy

Please, everyone, if you can read this, you can leave a comment on the post linked above. Some words of kindness for a family resisting an ongoing genocide.

If your financial situation allows, you can donate to help them survive. If not, please take only a few moments to go to the linked thread and post a comment of solidarity, to let Soliman and his family know that you support them and to lift their spirits in this horrific time!

If not, just leave a comment from the heart, and do what you can to support the cause in other ways. Volunteer, protest, organize by joining local solidarity groups. Solidarity is an act of love, an act of revolutionary defiance of the state of things and they are, and the true basis for progress towards a better world.

Free Palestine! From the river to the sea! End the genocide! palestine-heart palestine-strong

So I just learned that iOS completely blocks you from viewing certain kinds of content even if it knows that you're 18+??? How does anybody justify owning an iPhone god damn.

[–] oscardejarjayes@hexbear.net 5 points 17 hours ago

Either I replied to a reply (I don't think so, I'm pretty sure I can account for all of my replies), or someone deleted a reply to a post/comment of mine (possibly by deleting their account). This happens occasionally, I never really do know who did it.

Fucking brewdog, if your going to make a mango and passionfruit 'milkshake' IPA don't make it fucking 8.4% it's way too drinkable

Thanks Shitter, I love having the language I speak randomly autotranslated by Grok when I'm scrolling the feed. Switching between Spanish and a broken English translation of something in Spanish definitely doesn't bother medean-neutral

[–] hello_hello@hexbear.net 3 points 15 hours ago

Can't wait for spanish to be more even calc'd on English speech than it already is and the yanquis will still refuse to learn it just out of principle.

Every norteamericano should have spanish literacy no exceptions.

While I bet that is annoying, I love that rednote recently implemented auto generated English subtitles from videos originally in Mandarin/any other language.

[–] Carl@hexbear.net 5 points 17 hours ago

Importantly, RedNote makes you turn that feature on instead of doing it automatically.

I'm so tired with everything, I don't have the energy to do anything except play video games when I'm not at work and it's killing me. I need like a year off of work to take care of the countless looming DIY house projects that I've allowed to build up since COVID started and reset my brain.

Also my job is still relatively cushy but it's become significantly more annoying in the two years I've been here, I have a good relationship with my boss but the rest of senior management puts up a huge fight any time I try to do my job because it might make their lives 1% more difficult. Like sorry Susan, but I'm not giving you written or verbal permission to do [very bad thing that I'm being paid specifically to prevent] because "that's the way we've always done it" (the worst possible justification to do anything btw) and you don't want to do 10 more minutes of work every week, only boss can override it. Then it escalates to boss and we continue wasting everyone's time, repeat ad nauseum on a weekly basis.

Could there be a megathread post on China's hanfu, and the variations that have been made from China's softpower of gifting it as outfits of honor to nobles and others?. For example, I really like the Vietnamnese and Korean variations of hanfu, they're swaggy and beautiful. I've only recently been looking them up. It's so pleasing to me that they made it their own ways.

Please go to Soliman's post requesting aid from Gaza for his family. If you can, donate. Otherwise, leave a kind comment in solidarity to let him know that they and their people are not alone.
