Mictecacihuatl, Lady of the Dead, is the link between the living and the deceased. She holds our teyollia, the spirit of our personality and our creativity, and purifies it so it can return to the Earth in the shape of a new being. Also called Mictlancihuatl, she is the ruler of the land of the dead. She is honored on Dia de Muertos, and is a manifestation of La Santa Muerte. A work of nahua (or Aztec) tradition.

Mictecacihuatl is the female deity associated with death in many of Mexico's indigenous cultures. In addition to welcoming us into the afterlife, she is the protector of some and the source of countless legends related to the underworld. Learn about her history, her powers, and the fate of those who encounter the powerful lady of Mictlán.

Known as the lady of the dead, the lady who cuts the umbilical cord, or simply the lady of death, Mictecacihuatl is the goddess who rules the other world and to whom some will have to answer sooner or later.

Together with her husband, the lord of death Mictlantecuhtli, Mictecacihuatl welcomes souls who died naturally to Mictlán, to watch over their bones and watch over their sleep for all eternity.

Furthermore, her power extends throughout the land of the dead and even into the world of the living, as she is capable of sending blessings, curses, and messages from her dimension in the afterlife. Of the two rulers of the underworld, Mictecacihuatl seems to be the more flexible of the two deities, as she is the one who gives the deceased permission to return from Mictlán, a gesture that does not go unnoticed on the earthly plane, as the celebration of the dead in pre-Hispanic cultures was an honor to this goddess.

All I know about Aztec mythology is that they have a god of twinks (Xochipilli), and I appreciate that.

Now that I am a reader I have to find new phrases to relate to things I can't just use things like "this is just like dark souls" or "this reminds me of Yakuza". I got a relate this back to books like if something is unfair I gotta think of a comparison but I'm having trouble finding one 19

Im prettt sure the kitties in my neighborhood have been talking about me and im some sort of folk hero. While I was just out I heard a cat let out a big shriek and then this lil callico came running from a back yard and hid behind my leg until we'd established the threat was clear and then got some cuddles. I have never seen this cat before. I am pals with a lot of kitties around where I live, I guess word got out.

Listening to the CTH podcast and now I know about the sperm-racing company and the company that wants to put a cross on the Moon. How can I ever sleep again with this information?

I had a hilarious nightmare where we got a weird monkey’s paw situation at work and our employer let us work from home by forcing us to live in the office.

why do i feel like my body runs 1 hour late? i feel like 5pm is actually 4pm fir example, wtf is going on

lost weight because i can't eat, i don't deel like eating

[–] hexaflexagonbear@hexbear.net 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I think you should see a doctor. May be like a stress response, but it could be an issue with your pancreas or liver? I think if it were issues with your pancreas or liver usually your internal clock gets thrown off by more than an hour, but its worth checking on combined with the unexpected weight loss and lack of appetite.

[–] lelkins@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

it is stress though. i can't stop working on this obviously dogshit job cause otherwise my family will kill me

my grandma compared me having a big appetite while playing games all day with me having literally no time to eat at work. i have to wait for calls and always have to do shit i can't just pause, also 20 minutes is the largest break i can get and i never feel like that's enough time to even eat something light

it's always about time. always was

[–] hexaflexagonbear@hexbear.net 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

At least it’s nice to hear you’re physically healthy. The weight loss is definitely concerning, would a doctor be able to sign off on stress leave or something? I recall you were in an eastern/southeastern European country (Romania?) and a few of them do have pretty reasonable sick leave policies. I know my uncle and cousin had several paid months off work with their job protected, thought those were for physical ailments (diabetic shock, and a major surgery respectively).

[–] lelkins@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 3 days ago

reasonable sick leave policies yea, but my issue is unreasonable family members that are workaholics. also call center, those things are stressful by default.

i was supposed to get a sick leave for one week but mom refused and just fucking told me to continue working because reasons. no mom i literally couldn't speak without coughing every 5 seconds and my throat was so sore i genuinely was unable to speak

don't fucking go "you are a grown ass man", my family is built different and i have no rights

I finished SilkSong but it took me over 3x as long as some friends' runs and I only made it through because after

SilkSong spoilersbeating the big boss and getting an ending, it turns out there's more to do! And it's way harder than before! So much so that I couldn't do it, and was not having fun anymore, so I eventually caved and cheated, using a trainer to make Hornet invincible because I had explored everything and was just bottlenecked on some really hard bosses getting worse and worse at fighting them each time I tried.

Glad I got to see the end of the story, but it was also sad that I had to resort to that. It's not about a lack of skill necessarily, it's a measure of how mentally and emotionally strapped I am. I used to be better at persevering through hard games (Souls and Soulslikes) and I really enjoyed the struggle, but my life has gotten so bad that all my reserves of emotional endurance and strength are used up every day just getting through the day and functioning at under 1/10th of my old capacity. There's none left to engage with the really difficult games in the way that leads to productive success or victory, it's just being stuck in a loop doing the same doom-laden thing over and over. Not just becuase the game is hard, it spreads to other fronts too. Like, I was playing bullet chess online with a rando and I timed out trying to capture a piece with my pawn. I thought my phone screen was suddenly not responding so I kept trying to move the piece. But nope, my pawn was just pinned and I hadn't noticed it.
