Mictecacihuatl, Lady of the Dead, is the link between the living and the deceased. She holds our teyollia, the spirit of our personality and our creativity, and purifies it so it can return to the Earth in the shape of a new being. Also called Mictlancihuatl, she is the ruler of the land of the dead. She is honored on Dia de Muertos, and is a manifestation of La Santa Muerte. A work of nahua (or Aztec) tradition.

Mictecacihuatl is the female deity associated with death in many of Mexico's indigenous cultures. In addition to welcoming us into the afterlife, she is the protector of some and the source of countless legends related to the underworld. Learn about her history, her powers, and the fate of those who encounter the powerful lady of Mictlán.

Known as the lady of the dead, the lady who cuts the umbilical cord, or simply the lady of death, Mictecacihuatl is the goddess who rules the other world and to whom some will have to answer sooner or later.

Together with her husband, the lord of death Mictlantecuhtli, Mictecacihuatl welcomes souls who died naturally to Mictlán, to watch over their bones and watch over their sleep for all eternity.

Furthermore, her power extends throughout the land of the dead and even into the world of the living, as she is capable of sending blessings, curses, and messages from her dimension in the afterlife. Of the two rulers of the underworld, Mictecacihuatl seems to be the more flexible of the two deities, as she is the one who gives the deceased permission to return from Mictlán, a gesture that does not go unnoticed on the earthly plane, as the celebration of the dead in pre-Hispanic cultures was an honor to this goddess.

I finished SilkSong but it took me over 3x as long as some friends' runs and I only made it through because after

SilkSong spoilersbeating the big boss and getting an ending, it turns out there's more to do! And it's way harder than before! So much so that I couldn't do it, and was not having fun anymore, so I eventually caved and cheated, using a trainer to make Hornet invincible because I had explored everything and was just bottlenecked on some really hard bosses getting worse and worse at fighting them each time I tried.

Glad I got to see the end of the story, but it was also sad that I had to resort to that. It's not about a lack of skill necessarily, it's a measure of how mentally and emotionally strapped I am. I used to be better at persevering through hard games (Souls and Soulslikes) and I really enjoyed the struggle, but my life has gotten so bad that all my reserves of emotional endurance and strength are used up every day just getting through the day and functioning at under 1/10th of my old capacity. There's none left to engage with the really difficult games in the way that leads to productive success or victory, it's just being stuck in a loop doing the same doom-laden thing over and over. Not just becuase the game is hard, it spreads to other fronts too. Like, I was playing bullet chess online with a rando and I timed out trying to capture a piece with my pawn. I thought my phone screen was suddenly not responding so I kept trying to move the piece. But nope, my pawn was just pinned and I hadn't noticed it.

No silksong is just really hard, I dont know why they made it so hard lol. Im enjoying it but there's more than one boss that I wish I could do a few tries the old fashioned way and then hit the "fuck off now Im invincible" button and then move on. So long as I get to see their movesets. Silksong to me has been a really beautiful artsy exploration game with some fyn tricky platforming and then these obnoxious bosses that can all fuck right off. I don't even get the spike of endorphins or whatever for finishing off a tough boss after trying for 30 minutes or coming back to it, still just feel pissed
