You would think that Porsche drivers could afford the costs of EV usage.
I don't think this is the problem.
Rather: they know they don't have an edge against Chinese EV and on the other hand, people who can afford a combustion in the future will be able to pay double for a car.
So they will increase their prices to maintain their profit and position themselves towards Ferrari & co.
Not sure what you mean, EVs are significantly cheaper to own than ICE.
Installing a charger for your home. If not planned for it in the original build. Can be expensive and costly. I used to do installation on a massive scale.
I said it recently and I‘ll day it again: Even here in the rural parts of Germany charging stations are going up left and right. The tides are changing and the German car industry is doomed if they keep it up.
Porsche makes an electric car, the Taycan. You might not have heard of it because no one is buying them.
They tried.
I know the Taycan and have been seeing it from time to time, actually. One model didn‘t sell so well. That‘s not trying and failing that‘s simply part of the process. If you or they can‘t see that then that‘s the actual failure.

They were too late to the E game. They only have two E vehicles at the moment. Those are not even the „core“ vehicle type they usually sell (the 911 and similar are non electric. Both electric cars are 4 door, „family“ cars)
Most Porsche buyers don’t buy it as a family car… so yes, I understand that these cars did not sell as well as they hoped.
Wrong, the Porsche SUV sales saved the company. The Cayenne is almost half their total sales. They would be broke on only the 911.
I mean... I can't really be that mad at Porsche for this. They sell so few cars that it's not really a big player on the world CO2 stage. And their cars aren't monster drinkers like rolls Royce, or Bugatti. It's unfortunate but we have bigger battles to fight.
They also sell cars to people who are much more likely to be able to afford shelling out a bit extra cash to finance the transition to electric mobility. Given that maintaining a livable planet is not an optional nice to have thing, I'd argue they are even more to blame than some others.
Porsche sells 320,000 cars a year.
